American Legends is a collection of animated stories about American myths done by Disney in the past and present. Narrated by James Earl Jones are the stories of John Henry, Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan, and Casey Jones. All original stories have been revamped and fixed up for the collection from their original formats throughout the 20th century. John Henry gives his best as a man to beat a machine in his short story, Johnny Appleseed roams the countryside with a pan-hat planting apple seeds wherever he goes, Paul Bunyan roamed the forests as a master logger as he cut down trees by the dozen, and Casey Jones' story tells of disaster and heroism in the face of danger and stress. Overall, the movie is a great collection of Disney short films that has finally reached a selection worthy of redistribution and remastering for the mass audience.
