“The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is a film about a long-standing Texan historical landmark, The Chicken Ranch a local brothel, which has been in operation for more than a century.. Everyone in Gilbert, Texas knows what goes on down on the ranch however they choose to ignore it. Even the town Sheriff and regular patron, Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd (Burt Reynolds) has a deep romantic involvement with the brothel’s head Mistress, Miss Mona Stangley (Dolly Parton). This helps when it comes to Mona taking care of girls and the Sheriff turns a blind eye. Everyone was happy until the crusading televangelist; Melvin P. Thorpe (Dom DeLuise) decides to make a public issue of the illegal activity down on the Chicken Ranch. This causes political ramifications and the place is to be closed down. Now Miss Mona, Sheriff Dodd and the girls have to fight back to keep their tradition alive.
