Bluegrass Chapter Member K8DV
Hello Fellow Bluegrass Chapter 214 Members,
First licensed May 78 as KA4AZT, upgraded to General in June 79 and then Advance December 79, and was issued call sign KC4VB before upgrading to Extra and received call NW4P in December 81. Moved to Fayetteville, Ohio from Flatwoods, Kentucky in October 87. Once the vanity call program was introduced I received my current call sign K8DV in November 1996.
I have to take a moment and give many thanks to my Dad (KZ4G)who amoung other things was my biggest ELMER and still is in Ham Radio as well as life.
I am active on SSB, CW and RTTY on 160 through 6 meters and spend most of my time on 20 and 15 meters chasing DX, after 25 years of hamming in 2006, I received my DXCC and have been bitten by the DX bug. You can also find me on FM while driving back and forth to work on VHF/UHF.
My station consists of an Icom IC-756 Pro II, Ameritron ALS-600, Yaesu FT-990, and Ameritron AL-572. The antennas are a 5 element Telerex TB-5em, double bazookas on 80 and 40 also have 5 element Cushcraft yagi on 6 meters and inverted Vee and vertical on 160. I use a G5RV on my boatanchor station with consist of several different stations which include: Heathkit, Drake, Kenwood equipment. I also have a Yaesu FT-817 for QRP.
I also have the first radio that my Dad got for him and I to use after I got my Novice ticket a Ten Tec 540 with Power Supply and remote VFO and it works just as great now as it did 25 years ago.
Here is a look at my current
station:
Besides enjoying rag chewing
and having good old fashion QSOs I am always working on adding to my DXCC
count and finishing up 5 band W.A.S. as well as 160 meter W.A.S. You can
find me active during the Ohio QSO party in August as well as many of the
ARRL sponsored contest such as Field Day, Sweep Stakes, 160 Contest. I
usually operate some in the CQ World Wide contest CW, SSB and 160 meter.
I am a life member of the American
Radio Relay League
A1-Op club - DXCC
Forty Over Club
Geratol Net #699

QCWA (Quarter Century Wireless
Association) and the Bluegrass Chapter 214
I am also trustee for a UHF repeater in Goshen, Ohio. (East side of Cincinnati) on 443.450 with an access tone of 142.6hz. Feel free to come by and use the system that is what it is there for, all is welcome.
If you hear me on the air stop by and say Howdy or if you need a QSL for Ohio or Clermont County shot me an e-mail (k8dv at fuse.net) to setup a schedule and we will be glad to help you out.
Best 73 and see you in the pile up,
Dave, K8DV
