| The Southern Ohio
Timing Association was formed in March of 1956 when several area Car
Clubs merged to form S.O.T.A. in order to organize drag races in South
East Ohio. The group was led by Cincinnati Highway Safety Officer Carl
Poppe. S.O.T.A. was instrumental in obtaining the land for the
construction of the Beechmont Dragway. |
