    General Information

    Venue:  Active - Several locations and configurations for Boat/Hydroplane racing on the Ohio. The Champ Boat Series, UHRA (United Hydroplane Racing Association), A.P.B. A. (American Power Boat Association, APR  Tunnel Boats have held races in the Tri State area.
    Track Location:  Races are listed as being run at Newport, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sayler Park, Ohio, Rising Sun, Indiana & Aurora, Indiana.
    Brief History: The Ohio River begins at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and flows 981 miles where it joins the Mississippi at Cairo, Illinois. Many boat races have been held on the mighty Ohio, including one of the most famous Boat races in the world, the Madison Regatta which is held in Madison, Indiana. On October 9, 1924 driver/builder/owner J.W. Whitlock, of Rising Sun, Indiana, drove the boat "HOOSIER BOY" to a round trip long-distance record by traveling the 266.8 miles from Cincinnati to Louisville, and back, averaging just under 60 mph in a record that will never be broken to the the Markland Dam & Locks being built.
