Project: Dinosauria
Description:
A Dinosaur themed hotel resort outside of Dinosaur National Monument in Utah. Dinosauria is the scientific classification kingdom name for dinosaurs. I did this project at school in an architecture studio called "the Road Studio." In this studio we studied the aesthetic of the American road and how it influenced architecture. We looked at Learning from LasVegas and studied how architecture can superficially or symbolically represent the place in which it is built. I chose to create a very themed project, obviously connecting the building to its "place" by tying into the pre-history of the region. Dinosauria is an imaginary project, but allowed me to get really creative. The project would use animatronic dinosaurs and all kinds of sound and lighting effects to create a truly immersive experience. The hotel would be lots of fun and also very hands on educational. I've always wanted to design a space around dinosaurs, so here I took advantage of the opportunity.
