Father Paul Roos Called to His Heavenly Reward

On Monday, January 17, 2005 Father Paul Roos lost his battle with cancer at the age of 70.  Just 2 hours before his death he called in his confessor, and prepared to meet his Creator, as God welcomed his servant into his Eternal Reward.  Father Paul will be greatly missed by all the Knights of St. John.  He had done much to promote and advance the Order during his years of membership.  He served for more than 37 years as the Indiana Grand Spiritual Advisor.  He attended their conventions, bowled in their tournaments and befriended countless brother Knights.  Father Paul served as Supreme Spiritual Advisor for more than 10 years.  He not only performed the duties of his office, but he went beyond them to serve on the ritual committee, reviewing and revising all the rituals and degrees of the Order.  He held countless masses for the Supreme Board and always delivered a message of God's love and plan for us at our meetings.  He often brought us gifts and sold us raffle tickets to help his parish.  He was an extraordinary and dedicated Knight of St. John.  During the recent Supreme Convention, I watched him initiate over 200 ladies at the Queen of Saints ceremony, which he gladly did despite his weakened condition.  He stood for more than 2 1/2 hours with his arms extended placing medallions over each candidates heads.  Not once did he take water or rest, and that was after completing a full day beginning with Mass in the morning, and attending meetings all day long.   His homilies and journal articles were always inspirational and aimed at us directly.  Father Paul we will miss you, and ask you to intercede with the Father for all the members of the Knights of St. John International.  May his soul rest in the Peace of the Lord. Amen.
