National Youth Sports Coaches Certification Program

The Mason Parks and Recreation Department is a certified chapter of the
National Youth Sports Coaches Association and offers training clinics for coaches
in various youth sports. The NYSCA has been restructured to make the program
more appealing. The four hour Introduction to Coaching Youth Sports Certification
program teaches the psychology of coaching, maximizing performances, first aid
and safety, organizing interesting practices, and tips on sports techniques.
In addition to a tremendous learning opportunity, certification provides $1,000,000
excess liability insurance, a subscription to Youth Sports Journal, NYSCA membership
card, and access to the coaches message board at www.nays.org.
After completion of the Introduction to Coaching Youth Sports, the coach
automatically qualifies for the Certified Coach Continuing Education Program
through the Youth Sports Journal and is not required to attend additional NYSCA
clinics. To maintain membership, the coach re-signs the Code of Ethics Pledge
and remits the annual dues of $20.00. Benefits of membership include:
  • $2,000,000 Excess Liability Insurance (an increase in coverage)
  • $250,000 Excess Accident/Medical Insurance ($50 deductible) for coaching-related injuries
  • Club USA Partnership Discounts
  • Call the Parks & Recreation Office today for more information on scheduling a Clinic.
