Tower 51 - New Betsy

7 Yr old Ellie Pittman was chosen from 500
contestants to name the Department's new truck.
Her choice :   New Betsy
When the Mason Volunteer Fire Company was first
established in the late 1800's, Betsy was the name of
one of it's first pumpers.
The Tower 51 Roto-Ray Clears the Way!
With their distinctive lighting, the crews of "The Tower" slice right thru
traffic and get ready to go to work, with their ROTO-RAYS, Federal "Q"
siren and red, clear & "a touch of green" warning lights.
Why green ?  Well, the Chief tells people that it represents the school
colors of the Mason "Comets"...  But it also represents a bit of tradition in the
fire service. (Thanks Chicago).   The "Red & Greens" on the rigs have become
locally symbolic of the City of Mason Firefighters.
