Most of you have probably seen the Police Department's new
speed trailer around town. The cost (approximately $12,000)
of the trailer was included in a grant from the Department of
Highway Safety. In addition, the department may be reimbussed
for more than $10,00 in overtime during the summer.
Plans now include more stationary radar patrols in our
residential neighborhoods. The speed limit in residential
neighborhoods is 25 miles per hour. Fines and court costs are
expensive reminders to slow down. When you see the speed
trailer around Mason, hopefully, you will take an
opportunity to evaluate your own speed and check the accuracy
of your car's speedometer.
To request the trailer in your neighborhood, call 398-5050
and ask for your district officer to stop by to discuss the logistics
for placement. Please remember we presently only have one
speed trailer and to date , it has been very popular.
Subsequently, you may have to wait a few days, as we will take
the requests in the order they are received.
You may have also noticed the big green yard signs that remind
motorists to slow down. These, too, may be requested by calling
your district officer. The officers of Mason would like nothing better
than to not have to respond to an accident where one of our kids has
been hurt. You can do your part. It may not be your neighborhood,
but it is someone's.
Remember: It's our town. Please slow down.
