Staff 

The Butler County Soldiers, Sailors & Pioneers Monument is a unit of the Butler County Board of Commissioners. The position of Monument Manager & Senior Curator, as defined by statute, must be a veteran of the United States Armed Services, and is appointed by the Board of Commissioners, reporting to the County Administrator.

Past curators have included veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War II, and the Vietnam War.


The current
Monument Manager & Senior Curator is Mary Clark Harlan, a resident of Hamilton! Ohio and 12-year veteran of the United States Army Reserve in Military Intelligence, who holds a Bachelor in History from Indiana University. She has served at the Monument since May 1995.

In addition to her line responsibilities managing the Monument, Mary also serves as the Monument's representative to various organizations, including the Butler County Veterans Association, Butler County Memorial Day Association, and the Bells on Independence Day Committee. She also serves as a member and Secretary of the Butler County Courthouse Restoration Committee.


The current Assistant Curator is William Craig, a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He has served at the Monument since February 1998.
