In the War of the Spanish Succession Prince Eugene and the Duke of Marlborough steadily defeated the French armies sent against them. The situation of the French had become desperate and even though they lost at Malplaquet, they discovered that they could stand up against the heretofore victorious Allies. After this battle the war turned and the French armies would know victory. This work provides a very detailed account of the build up to the battle, the defensive position constructed by the French, and the course of the battle. It contains orders of battle for both armies and a detailed map of the French positions.
