Eighth Generation

88. Photo Josef (Giuseppe) DEJACO124 was born on September 20, 1869 in Campill/Longiarü in Tyrol (Crownland of Austria) at Seres.

He wrote a letter to his uncle Franz DeJaco in America on February 6, 1898. He addressed his uncle as "Highly-prized Mr. Godfather", but stated concern that his letters weren't being answered: "Now to the point! I always liked you very much and, even though you are far away, I still think of my dear Godfather in America often. Also in my prayers I think of you often and pray often times that dear God will keep my dear Godfather healthy and that He will bless him and his and his father rightly. That is why I cannot believe that you have forgotten me and ask you please for an answer." He continues: "But there is something I must still write. I am planning to get married in the near future. I am very sorry that you will not be able to come to the wedding. More about this. I will write to you later."

He wrote a letter to his uncle Franz DeJaco in America on May 18, 1923. He thanked his Godfather for the sent letter and photographs stating: "You are very blessed to have two priests in your family." He continued: "Dear Godfather, there will be much happiness if we could see you again. We are with you and your family in our thoughts. We are busy building a new home. Our father [Josef Dejaco 1834-1917] is dead. I wondered if you knew of this. You are still our aunt and uncle. Marianna [Dejaco-Tschaffert 1851-1929] and you are all that's left." He then provided an update of affairs in Tyrol: "We are under the Italian government. We are all well and hope you are. Dear Godfather, if we could be together with you again we would have a lot to talk about. During the war time for three years when it was very bad. Dear Godfather, when you wrote to me you said you were old and so am I. I have a white beard. I have eight children. The oldest one is a daughter [Maria Dejaco 1900-1947] who is 23 years old. Another time I will send you a picture of the whole family."

He died on August 30, 1933 in Campill/Longiarü, Südtirol (Italy).
