Dr. Mariangelo (Engelbert) DEJACO Atzt175 was born on 11 Feb 1913 in Campill/Longiarü in
Tyrol (Crownland of Austria) at Seres. In 1942, he graduated from
Medicine from the University of Innsbruck. He had wanted to emigrate
to America but he couldn't because the war had already begun. He could only
practice for a few months as a Medical Doctor in Austria before he was inducted
into the German Army. The Army sent him first to Sweden and then to Russia.
He was captured and held prisoner until 1949.
In 1949 he is a chief doctor and surgeon in Lugenartz Sanatorium in Brixen,
Südtirol. After his release, he became first a Medical Doctor
in Brixen, then in Bozen, and than returned to Brixen where he became Head of
the Department of Pneumology. After the World War II, Father Francis DeJaco
and Father Louis DeJaco proposed to Mariangelo (Engelbert) that he come to America,
because he didn't get any work because Italians did not like linguistic minorities,
and since Engelbert had sung "German songs". He died on 1 Jan 1993
in Bressanone/Brixen, Südtirol (Italy). Dr. Mariangelo (Engelbert)
DEJACO Atzt and Roslinde Margot RUGGABER Dejaco were married on 31 Dec 1944 in
Ranvansburg, Germany.
