He died on 26 Oct 1945 in Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky. From his obituary in the Kentucky Post: C. F. BANKEMPER DIES; LEADER IN BUSINESS - Camillus Frederick Bankemper, prominent Fort Thomas businessman and restaurant owner, died late at his home, Maple Place, Highland Heights. He was 36. Born in Newport, Mr. Bankemper was the former owner of the C. F. Bankemper Furniture Co., Fort Thomas, and two Greater Cincinnati restaurants. He was a member of St. Thomas Church, Ft. Thomas, the Holy Name Society of that church, and the Third Order of St. Francis. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Eleanor Birkenhauer Bankemper; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Scheben, Newport; and Miss Antoinette Bankemper and Miss Florence Bankemper, both of Highland Heights; and two brothers, Albert F. Bankemper, Cold Spring; and Carl C. Bankemper, in the Seabees. Solemn Requiem High Mass will be sung at St. Thomas Church at 10 am. Tuesday. Following prayers at the A. C. Dobbling and Sons funeral home, Ft. Thomas, at 9:30 am. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery. He was buried on 30 Oct 1945 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky at St. Stephen Cemetery.

Camillus Frederick BANKEMPER and Eleanor G. BIRKENHAUER Bankemper were married on 24 May 1933 in Newport, Kentucky at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Eleanor G. BIRKENHAUER Bankemper was born on 29 May 1911.
