     CARE & MAINTENANCE

    What you'll find out about tile is that it requires low maintenance to keep clean.  Simple routine cleaning will keep your tile looking like the day it was installed.  For floors, sweep or vaccuum to remove dirt.  Follow with mop or sponge dampened with all purpose cleaner*.  Bathroom areas may require more thorough cleaning due to the soap buildup and hard water stains.  You are still going  to use your all purpose cleaner but you may need to let it stand about five minutes before you rinse.

    Tile walls and countertops that have been neglected would require heavy duty cleaning.  You can use a scouring pad (such as Scotch Brite) with a scouring powder*, commercial tile cleaner*, or all purpose cleaner*.  Then just rinse and dry.  If you have a badly soiled area cover with a solution of scouring powder and very hot water.  Let stand about five minutes, then scrub with a stiff brush. Rinse with water and dry.

    For heavy duty floor cleaning, use commercial tile cleaner or a strong paste solution of an all purpose cleaner and let stand five minutes.  Scrub with a brush and then rinse clean.  Just keep in mind regular cleaning and prompt clean up of spills will keep your tile looking its best.

   Checklist of Do's and Don'ts

•     Don't combine ammonia and household bleaches.
•     Don't use steel wool pads.

•     Do use all purpose household cleaners*.
•     Do use a cleaner that is non-acidic  (vinegar is an acid)
