Bushrod Washington Oxley
Notice the eyes on Bushrod. He was wounded during the Civil War and spend most of his time on Laudanum for pain. My grandfather Oxley told me that Bushrod was eventually bedridden and used his Civil War pistol to end the pain.
Attached are the papers listing Bushrod as a Confederate POW in 1863. There are three different dates of capture and two sites of capture. Even primary documents can differ.
