According to Lillian Oxley Brady, in notes she took down from her father
Arthur Oxley, John married a Cherokee Indian. This would have been his
wife Jane of which we have no record of her last name.
John moved to Loudoun County, Virginia about 1761? He raised his family
in Loudoun County. All of Henry Oxley's children and familes appear on
the titheable list of Cameron and Shelborne Parishes from 1761 into the
1820's.
Will Book, Loudoun County Virginia. John Oxley bequeths to Jane Oxley
widow of my son Henry Oxley use and occupancy of the land I alloted to
son Henry. After her decease (Jane) to my son Henry's children, Aaron,
Francis, Enoch, Mary, Linthe (Schitha?) and Lewis to be equally among
them as may be living. My son Aaron Oxley all his land 95 acres and 89
poles. My son John have the bed and furniture I use myself, and to my
daughter Amey shall the bed and furniture she uses and calls hers. My
daughter Mary Woolard, 34 dollars, my daughter Eleanor Steven, 25
dollars, my daughter Caty Warner, 10 dollars, my daughter Amey, the red
horse I value at $20, my son Aaron and my daughter in law Jane Oxley, the
care of my daughter Amey. Aaron Oxley and friend Aaron Sanders were
Executors. Dated July 7, 1809.
