Gold Miners hard at work during the
1870's in California

Old time prospector
Paul Dionne with 23 ounce gold nugget. He is a 20 year prospector in the
Alaska gold fields.

Some of these Gold Nuggets were mined by Paul Dionne at his mine in the Koyukuk Mining District which is 100 miles
north of the Arctic Cirlce in northern Alaska. Paul left the State of Maine with his family in 1979 to become a guide in
Alaska. He however got side tracked and worked for a mining family, bought a mine, and today mines his own claim.
Paul has also prospected and worked many of the creeks in the area such as the Smith, Porcupine, Union, Hammond,
and the very rich Nolan Creek. Paul's website and some of his mining operations can be seen by going to my link
section or he can be emailed at
gold@alaska.net . Most gold nuggets run 85% to 95% pure gold (20-22kt). The
California nuggets were found in the Yuba River area, placier deposits in northern California and the foothills of the
Sierras. The Alaska nuggets were found in the Koyukuk Mining District and the Circle Mining District near Fairbanks
Alaska. I have handed picked all of these nuggets to bring you the best in gold content, beauty, shapes and lines, size
and value.
