1.) Edward Dunham and his wife, Elizabeth, were "natives of New
Jersey who settled in Warren county in a very early day" (Beers 1054).
2.) The latter note is contradicted in Beers' entry for Henry J.
Dunham, son of Edward and Elizabeth. The entry states that Edward
Dunham is "a native of West Virginia, and Elizabeth (Gibbs) Dunham,
his wife, a native of New Jersey" (736).
3.) According to page 31 of Volume 3 of "Memoirs of the Miami Valley,
" Edward Dunham was a native of Virginia who emigrated, with his wife
Elizabeth, to Warren county, OH, about 1800. Edward remained on his
farm in Warren county until his death. So take your pick between
Notes #1, 2 or 3!
4.) One Edward Dunham is listed in the burial list for the Baptist
graveyard on page 475 of "History of Warren County." The following
dates are given: died 1842, aged 57. Two entries for 2 Elizabeth
Dunhams follow: died 1857, age 76; died 1839, aged 51.
5.) "Memoirs..." and info in the 1880 Warren county census agree on
birthplaces of Edward & Elizabeth Dunham. As, according to my atlas,
West Virginia was admitted to the Union in 1863, it could very well be
that Edward was from "western" Virginia; that area being just
"Virginia" at the time of his birth. More particularly, the 2 latter
sources agree on a place of birth for Elizabeth Gibbs Dunham as being
Virginia, so I believe the latter to be correct.
6.) According to SOURCE #37, Edward Dunham was Elizabeth Gibbs'
second husband.

1.) On page 1 of MOM! THE THRESHERS ARE COMING!, Rebecca Dunham
Kartalia explains that the portion of Virginia in which Edward Dunham
was born is now present-day West Virginia.

1.) Year and place of marriage from page 1 of SOURCE #37.
2.) Exact date of marriage from page 23 of Warren County Marriage
Records, #1, O.S. According to this source, this marriage was
performed by Silas Hurin, Esq.

1.) In a telephone conversation with Rena Cochran on 13 Jan 1998, it
was stated that Pearl Baily was "taken in," or indentured, to David E.
Dunham (similar to the 3 Goodpaster siblings' situations). This would
explain why Pearl M. Baily & husband Emmor D. Baily are on the John
Watson Dunham family headstone in the Lebanon cemetery. In the same
conversation, it was stated that Laura Dunham received the farm after
her husband, David Edward, died; Laura left the farm to Pearl Baily
after the former died.
2.) Source of possible surname for Pearl: SOURCE #200-"Memory Lane
Recalls..." The article states that David Dunham "had Emmor and Pearl
Gardiner Baily work for him and Mrs. Dunham, and as stated above, Mr.
Baily still [1981] resides there, Mrs. Baily having passed away some
years ago."

1.) Moses Kelly "was raised and grew to manhood in this then
wilderness of a country, fully inured to the deprivations and
hardships of those early days. [He] was twice married; first to
Abigail H. Satterthwaite, by whom he had five children, two [of whom]
now survive;. . .[and secondly to] Ann [Hatton]. . .Mr. Kelly passed
his entire life upon the old homestead place where he was born and
raised; was a man firm principles and undoubted character; a good
citizen and neighbor, and a devoted member of the Society of Friends"

1.) I am basing my conclusion that George W. Perrine was the spouseof my ancestor Rhoda Beedle primarily on the fact that George W.Perrine's signature appears on page 4 of the Estate Docket for EliasBeedle. The signatures on this page, consisting of most of EliasBeedle's children (with the exception of George Perrine), consent tothe scheduling of an inventory of Elias' estate on 12 October 1846.Page 1061 of Beers mentions the marriage of George W. Perrine to aRhoda Beedle; I am now fairly confident that this Rhoda Beedle is oneand the same as my ancestor.
2.) According to a 23 Mar 1997 e-mail from Warren Beadle, GeorgePerrine and Rhoda Beedle were married on 16 Feb 1837 "at Warren, OH."This needs to be verified.
