1861 he enlisted in Co. F, 60th O.V.I., for one year; served his time,
and was honorably discharged. Was taken prisoner at Harper's Ferry,
September, 1862, and was immediately paroled. He was in the
engagement at Cross Keys, Va., and numerous smaller engagements. He
owns 160 acres of excellent land, which is largely in cultivation and
well improved" (Beers 1054).
