INDEX

[2112] 1.) James Benham "was a continuous resident of [Warren] county, and a
prosperous farmer. He served six years as Justice of the Peace, and
in all ways was a successful man" (History of Warren County 1050). By
his first two marriages he had no children. he "was twice elected
Justice of the Peace, but he never sought office. His long life was
passed as a quiet farmer; in politics he was a Whig, and afterward a
Republican; in religion he was for the last forty or fifty years of
his life a Universalist. General Durbin Ward, who was the intimate
friend of James Benham wrote soon after his death: 'The writer who
knew him as the highest type of humanity--an honest man--and who loved
him for nearly thirty years, mourns the loss of the wisest man he
ever knew, and whose daily life he would be glad to be good and great
enough to follow as an example'" (History of Warren County 713).
2.) James Benham was the eldest son of Peter Benham (Beers 713).

[2115] 1.) Date of death inferred from DOB and age at death (History of
Warren County 713).

[113] 1.) "Grossie" is short for the German "Grossmum" (sp?), meaning"Grandmother."

[4135] 1.) According to their wedding announcement, Max E. Pelz and Anna A.Ende were married at the home of the bride-to-be (Anna A. Ende).
2.) According to the handwritten, German, marriage certificate ofAnna Ende & Max Pelz, the couple was married in Homestead, PA. Theirmarriage announcement listed the place of marriage as North Braddock.I don't know if this necessarily is a contradiction; the 2 placesmight essentially be the same place.

Leora B. UNKNOWN?

[3100] [3101]

1854 - 1905

Family 1 : Archelaus D. SMITH?
  1. +Clara L. SMITH

INDEX

[3100] 1.) I base my assumption that Leora B. was the mother of Clara Smith
Harvey due to the fact that Clara, her husband Alvin H. Harvey, Leora
B., and Archelaus Smith are all buried together in a small plot at the
Lebanon Cemetery. Only these 4 are buried in this plot. This could
also explain for whom Arch Harvey, son of Alvin H. and Clara Harvey,
was named: his maternal grandfather. This relation needs to be
verified.
