[2986] 1.) John Jameson "came from Kentucky to Ohio at an early day, being
accompanied by the McCoy's, one of whom he married, and followed up
the Little Miami river, which at that date was the only trail in the
county. A temporary settlement was made on the site of Cedarville,
where the little party camped for the summer, clearing some ground and
planting a crop of corn. In the fall they returned to Kentucky with
their dogs and guns and after getting their families together and
gathering their necessary household effects, once more made the trip
through the wild country and located near Cedarville, Greene county,
[Ohio], where they improved land, made a permanent settlement,
established comfortable homes, reared their families and passes the
remaining years of their lives in honorable and industrious
agricultural labor" (Memoirs of the Miami Valley 132).
