[3237] This person is presumed living.

1.) William Cochran "lived and died in Pennsylvania" (In Memoriam:
John Morrow Cochran. . . 29).
2.) William Cochran "moved from Delaware County, Penn., to
Carrollsburg, then York County, now Adams County, in 1732" (In
Memoriam: John Morrow Cochran. . .35).
3.) According to correspondence from one Judy Caughron to Aunt Sue (a
copy of which is in my possession) the story goes is that there were 7
Cochran brothers, of whom William was one, who emigrated from the U.K.
to America. They landed in Pennsylvania and then scattered. She
says that 2 settled in Tennessee, which is her line. One of the
sources for LDS film batch 5016416, sheet 31 (James Cochran family
group sheet) is a "1730 document of Robert Cochran, [and] is located
in the Presbyterian Historical Library in Philadelphia." I wonder if
this Robert Cochran might be one of the other 6 brothers?
4.) According to an IGI (1996) record on William Cochran, he was born
in Carakeel, Londonderry, Ireland, to a Thomas and Catherine Cochran.
The latter 2 are cited as his parents in volume 5, page 622 of "The
Compendium of American Genealogy," although no location is mentioned.
5.) On page 35 of "In Memoriam: John Morrow Cochran," it is stated
that "William [Cochran] moved from Delaware county, Penn., to
Carrollsburg, then York county, now Adams county, in 1732."
Info given for places of birth for William Cochran's children on
LDS film batch 5016416, sheet 31, state that except for sons Andrew
and James, the other 5 kids were born in Frederick county, MD -- James
was born in Chester co., PA. (Andrew was born in Carakeel,
Londonderry, Ireland, evidently shortly before William Cochran and his
brothers emigrated.) At some point it would be a good idea to study
the historical boundaries of Frederick co., MD, as I wonder if all the
William's kids were in fact born at William Cochran's farm in
Carrollsburg. Was the parent-county of present-day Carroll county
Frederick county? If it was, and encompassed the area of the former
in the past, then I would surmise that all the kids were, in fact,
born in the same place. This would make sense, especially in light of
the disputed boundaries of the lands of William Cochran and the others
who purchased land from Barrister Emmit.

1.) There is a discrepancy of the age at death for William Cochran.
In the book, "In Memoriam. . ." the years of his life are given as
1699-1771 (34). Attached to a photocopy page concerning the John
Morrow Cochran (1808-1899) family, however, is the handwritten DOD of
9/18/1771, and the age at death given as 78 years, which would give a
YOB of 1693.
His YOB can be considered to be uncertain.
I will maintain the present YOB as 1699, if only because it is
the first date entered, until a definitive YOB can be determined. --
John C. Pelz, 21 March 1996.
2.) Exact DOD and place of death info taken from William Cochran
family group sheet, LDS film, batch 5016416, sheet 31.

was married to Margaret A., daughter of William and Mary Luce, of
Warren co[unty]. After his marriage, he located where his widow now
