1.) The Memoria of Annie G. Stewart states that Annie's mother was
Elizabeth Clarke
Stewart, who was born 24 Feb ____ [sic], and died 8 May 1929, and who
was Saul (Sam) Stewart's wife.
2.) According to a letter from Aunt Carol (postmarked 9 Mar 1997),
Elizabeth (Clarke?) was Sam Stewart's second wife. She was the sister
of his first wife. Grandma Moss (Elizabeth Clarke Stewart Moss) and
Aunt Lil (Lillian Stewart Keller) were full sisters. Annie, May and
Frank were children of Elizabeth.
3.) In Aunt Carol's 3 Mar 1999 letter, she states that she is
reasonably sure that "Clarke" was the surname of Elizabeth and her
sister Mary Ann, both of whom were married to Sam Stewart. Everything
I've seen certainly points in that direction.
[141]
1.) YOB is inferred from date of death ("MEMORIA - Stewart, AnnieG.") and age at death (according to Elizabeth Clarke Stewartobituary).
2.) Place of birth from CENSUS RECORD #8.
3.) DOB given in 1900 census for Allegheny City is February 1838.
4.) Exact DOB from Frank N. Stewart memoria; info written by Mary E.Moss Pelz.
[145]
1.) Died at age 91. Death notice reads:
"One of Manchester's oldest residents, Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart, of
1326 Liverpool Street, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, in her 91st
year. For many years, Mrs. Stewart has resided in this
district...Until a few years ago she was a practical nurse.... She was
a member of the Trinity M.P. Church and leaves five children: Frank,
Annie and May at her home, and Mrs. Elizabeth Moss of Liverpool
Street, and Mrs. Lillian Keller of Glenfield, PA. Also seven
grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive."
The death notice is a newspaper clipping and was found in the
Bible of Charles Alfred Pelz.
[4139]
1.) I am inferring this date range for the marriage of Solomon
Stewart and Elizabeth Clarke from the DOB of the last child of Solomon
Stewart and Mary Ann Clarke (who was Elizabeth Clarke Stewart) and the
YOB of the first child of Solomon Stewart and Elizabeth Clarke (who
was Annie Gray Stewart).
