1.) Robert Gilchrist "joined Hull's ill-fated army in the war of
1812, and was killed in the battle of Brownstown" (In Memoriam...60).
2.) Info on page 60 of "In Memoriam..." appears to state that Robert
Gilchrist lived in, or came from, Lebanon, OH, which doesn't seem to
be the case. "History of Warren County" states that he was born near
Harrisburg, Dauphin co., PA, moved with his family to Ohio sometime
after his marriage in 1800 to Mary Wilson, settled in Montgomery co.,
OH, and died in the battle of Brownstown (in the War of 1812) in
August 1812. Between the 2 sources, "History..." seems to be more
specific and accurate; therefore, I suspect that "History..." is more
reliable.
3.) Robert Gilchrist "in 1802 emigrated [with his wife and children]
to Ohio, settling on Stillwater in Montgomery County....[He] lived in
Montgomery County until May 1812, when he volunteered under Col. Van
Horne, in Hull's army, and was killed in the battle of Brownstown Aug.
12, 1812, just a few days before Hull's cowardly surrender" (History
of Warren County 740).
