1.) James S. Cochran and a Mary E. Cochran share a headstone in
Greenwood cemetery. I surmise, therefore, that his first wife, Jennie
Cobaugh, died sometime after 1891 (the year John M. Cochran's memorial
book was published), and that James later married Mary E. The dates
for this possible 2nd wife (taken from the stone) are 1882-1973.
James Seward Cochran's YOD, as well as info on Mary E., was gathered
by me, 1/5/1997. The two are buried in the James W. Cochran lot,
which is in Section A. Jennie Cobaugh Cochran was not buried in this
lot.

1.) As this individual wrote her name in her will as "Catharine
Caltenbach," I accept this spelling as definitive, as opposed to the
spelling, "Katherine Kaltenborn" found in "NOTES #2- Pelz, D. Jean"
and "NOTES #7 - Mary E. Moss Pelz; "I haven't forgotten about
this..."."
2.) Catharine Caltenbach lived in Connoquenessing township, Butler
county, PA, at the time that she wrote her will.
3.) There are 2 other Kaltenbaugh households listed in the 1880 Penn.
census that immediately precede and follow the Katharine Kaltenbaugh
household. One "A. Kaltenbaugh" might be an brother of Jacob
Caltenbach, Sr.; the other, one "J. Kaltenbaugh" could possibly be a
son of Katharine or A. Kaltenbaugh. J. Kaltenbaugh was born circa
1844, and, for reference, would have been one year older than Margaret
Newell, a daughter of Catharine Caltenbach. Each head of household's
place of birth, as well as that of his/her parents', fit this pattern.
[2272]
1.) It is my guess that Catharine Caltenbach died sometime around
Sept. 1893. "Letter 9" from one H.H. Gouche[r?] to Mrs. Catherine
Moss [nee Caltenbach; daughter of Catharine Caltenbach] appears to
address difficulties Gouche[r?] had in getting a check of $520.59 to
Mrs. Moss. As Gouche[r?] mentions mailing a check of the same amount
"to Mrs. Stevenson" (sister of Mrs. C. Moss), I am guessing that these
equal amounts were disbursements from the will of Catharine
Caltenbach, as C. Caltenbach made such stipulations in her will.
