INDEX

[490] 1.) James W. Cochran, a son of John Morrow Cochran (1808-1889) has
his own lot in the Greenwood cemetery, in Hamilton, OH. It is in
section A. D. Jean Pelz & I visited it on 1/5/1997; photos were taken
(that are in my possession), and the following notes were taken by me.
Buried in the James W. Cochran lot are: 1.) James S[eward?] Cochran
and who I assume is J.S.C's wife, Mary E. (their inscriptions share a
stone); 2.) Ernest F. McClannan (1912-1984) and who I assume was his
wife, Rebecca C. (1917-present-- as of 1/5/97), 3.) Fannie
(Cochran?)-- separate stone, and 4.) James W. Cochran, Jr. (separate
stone).
Also buried in James W. Cochran lot: Samuel P. Leffler
(1837-1909) & his wife Rebecca Cochran Leffler (1842-1893). Their
info is inscribed on one stone. Also a William H. Leffler
(1876-1963), and a Stella D. Leffler (1882-1861). I assume that
William H. was Samuel P. and Rebecca Cochran Leffler's son; Stella D.
may be their daughter, or William H.'s wife.
According to my notes taken at the Greenwood cemetery lot, Samuel
P. Leffler belonged to Company K. in the 167th Ohio Infantry (Civil
War?). My notes also seem to indicate that Samuel P. Leffler & his
wife had 2 children who died in their infancies: Perry (1881-1882)
and "Infant" (1886-1887). THIS INFO NEEDS TO BE CONFIRMED (by records
or photo) before I enter it into my database!
Also in the James W. Cochran lot is a large, gray granite stone
containing info on a David and Nancy Urmston and their children; John
W. Dick & wife Emma F.; and E.T and Mary E. Anderson.

2.) From Source #138:
"James W. Cochran, a well-known farmer of Butler County, died at
his residence near Millville on Sunday [16 May 1880], aged 74 years.
He was born near Gettysburg, Adams county, PA, and came in early
childhood with his parents to Ohio, the family settling in Hamilton
county near where Glendale now is. The deceased subsequently went to
Butler county and passed the remainder of his life there. He was
noted for thoroughness in his vocation, attending strictly to his own
affairs, with industry, fidelity, and enterprise, and was an eminently
successful farmer. He leaves a widow and a large family of children
and grandchildren in comfortable circumstances. Two brothers survive
him-- ex-Judge William R. Cochran, of this city, and John M. Cochran,
Esq., of Glendale. The funeral ceremonies will take place at
Millville at 10 o'clock today, and the body will be interred in
Greenwood cemetery."

[3877] 1.) Inferred from page 3 of 29 July 1998 letter to me from WerdauPfarramt, in which it is stated that Johanne Christiane (Ahnert) Pelzdied on 23 Oct 1868. It logically follows that none of her childrencould have been born after that date; as Ernst Richard Pelz was born11 May 1858 and was apparently the youngest child of his parents, hissiblings were LIKELY born before 11 May 1858 as well, but that needsto be confirmed. It is safe to assume, however, that all the childrenof Johanne Christiane & Johann David Pelz were born by circa 23 Oct1868.
