My Rickenbacker 59 student model lap-steel

I got this fun Rickenbacker in mid-May of 2004; it was up for sale at www.duanesmusic.com. Its vintage is circa 1938. Although this steel may look rather plain, it sounds anything but! It's a gas to play, especially with a completely non-wound set of strings on it -- real smooth sound. You start playing it, and next thing you know, you're in Hawaii...

I managed to locate Bill, the previous owner of this Rickenbacker, and that was a real treat. Bill told me that his father got it for him in 1943 when he was a lad, and Bill kept it until its recent sale to Duane's Music. Bill sent me some pictures of him playing the Rick in 1949, and kindly gave me his permission to post those pictures on my website. Thanks, Bill! Links to the pictures can be found below.
