Music History

Undercurrent was formed in the spring of 1992 in Oxford, Ohio with Rick Reed on vocals and guitar, John Dean on bass, Bob Wilkerson on keyboards and vocals, and Vasanth Shenai on drums. The band divided their time between playing gigs (sometimes to more ashtrays than people), recording, and finishing college. The result was the self-titled CD Undercurrent. It was completed in spring 1994 at Group Effort Studios in Cresent Springs, KY. While promoting that CD Jerry Bellian replaced Vasanth Shenai on drums and Neil Morgan played additional guitar on several live shows.

As the audience ratio of ashtrays to people improved, the band relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio and began working on a second CD. In December 1995, we completed three songs in the first session at Suma Recording Studios in Cleveland, Ohio. All good things come to an end and the group disbanded in the late spring of 1996. I then moved to Atlanta, Georgia and completed that CD, 421, in early 1999 at GRA Studios. After returning to Cincinnati, I created a studio in my house and finished my most recent CD, Return of the Funky Rat Mole. I am currently working on several new projects including new solo material and playing bass and sharing vocal duties for two new bands.
