In the
1963..Surf rules the waves..err the radio waves that is.
1964..The British land in the US,playing the Ed Sullivan
show (hard to explain but even though the show featured things such as the
Russian Dancing Bears and a talking mouse it was still in the nature of a Big
Thing) and Shea Stadium. This led to the third British Invasion. Unlike the
first two, this one worked quite well. Soon the airwaves were flooded with a
variety of English Accents. In order to get a record contract you needed..A. a
guitar and B.an accent. The Beatles,The Animals (who specialised in American
music but who noticed) the Rolling Stones, The Kinks (perhaps the most British
of names for a band) Gerry and the Pacemakers,Larry and the Kidney Implants (who
did not fare as well),The Who and all sorts of other animals prepositions etc
came along.
