The 20th Century, also known as the Century of Rock and Roll, bean with what became known as the Great War. Why was it a Great War? Perhaps because it ended?

In order to celebrate the end of the Great War the US passed a law called the Volstead Act which made celebrating illegal,as they also closed down the red light district. What the latter part meant is that the musical motivators from Louisiana ended up in the North playing in the Speakeasys that grew up around the country. People tended to pay as much attenttion to the no liquor policy as they would to the no drug laws in the 60s.

By now another key aspect had been laid in the formation of Rock and Roll. The black vinyl 78 rotation per minute record. Although it would need to slow down to 45 before rock and roll was ready for it.

Let us not forget while we are at it the huge stardon of Nick Lucas. Who was Nick Lucas? He had the number one hit of 1929.."Tiptoe Through the Tulips." More important in the hisory of Rock is the fact that he was the first person to have a signature Gibson guitar.

And out in the midwest a slight fellow with a raspy voice named Woody Guthrie came stomping into the big city to remind the music industry that they needed musicians to thrive. Well at least way back in those days they did.
