1929..Les Gibson pushes the stylus
of a phonograph under his guitar strings and the sound comes out from the
phonograph. Needless to say this has its limits, but it is a start.
1935 Telefunken invents magnetic
tape for recording. This makes it much easier to mass produce records.
1948 The 33 1/3 vinyl record is invented. In time this would
mean companies could take songs that people already had,put them together, and have the people buy them all
over again.
1949 How did they get the songs in the first place? From here..in 1949 the 45 RPM was invented..also known as the
platter, the single and the thing that accumulated to embarras
you in later years.
1951 Top 40 Radio is invented in
