The Ninja Clans

There are many clans of ninjas, each independent of the rest. Some are neutral towards each others, some are enemies. Unfortunately, in these modern times the need for shinobi is not as great as it was in ancient Japan. Although their time is believed by most to have passed, the clans that follow will not go quietly into the night.
Many ninjas simply practice a weapon art (see Weapon Arts) instead of their clan's martial art. Some may substitute one maneuver with a ninja maneuver (like Shrouded Moon).
(Please note, no historical basis was used for the creation of any of these fictional clans.)
Japanese terms: Shinobi - ninja, kunoichi - female ninja

Ninja Kickboxers

Not a clan, merely a really dirty fighting style.

See Countdown Compendium: Ninja Kickboxing.

Shadow Clan
The most powerful of the remaining clans in both numbers and organization, the Shadow Clan has always excelled and been favored for their skills as spies, assassins, thieves, saboteurs, ambushers, guards, and abductors. Their view on honor is quite questionable by Street Fighter Honor as they can be quite ruthless (not that all ninja aren't at least a little bit ruthless).

Quote: "Live by honor. Kill by stealth."

Shiranui Ninja

There are few of these left. Not an organized ninja clan, they mainly consist of the ancestors who have taught their descendants the ways and skills of the Shiranui ninja. By and large, Shiranui ninjas are lone individuals who do not know of other Shiranui ninjas. The Shiranui are known for their control of fire.

See Countdown Compendium:

Wind Clan

Highly disorganized, the Wind Clan consists of scattered cells, each believing they are the last ones. Many of them are but lone individuals with the heritage, training, and loyalty but without a clan goal or mission. The wind clan is best known for its supernatural speed, and many of their clan's quick surprise attacks on military targets still live on in ninja history.

See Countdown Compendium: Kazeshiken Ninjitsu.

Yomi Clan
Higly feared and despised, they are believed to be merely agents of evil working for demons against the human race. Other ninja clans tend to hunt them down and destroy them where they surface.
Still highly organized, they are middlemen for dealing with the non-mortal world, contractable both by the supernatural and mortals.
They were favored by the shogun Oda Nobunga (1573-1582) who built them their temple which is even today their base. Today, it is hiddenly mystically.

Quote: "The Yomi world is more alive than this world will ever be."
