Fatal Fury versus Pantheon
Sakura Kusanago wishes Apollo good luck and cheers for him (they obviously know each other now).
Mai is on hand to cheer for Andy.
Joe Higashi faces off Artemis. Joe prepares to loose a Screw Upper, but Artemis lunges with a flying tackle. Joe throws himself clear. Joe then flies in with a slash kick causing Artemis to stagger back. They lock stares, and Joe switches stances preparing to unleash one of his dreaded knee maneuvers, but Artemis is already lunging as his Tiger Knee connects.
Both go crashing to the ground. Joe quickly tries to get away, but Artemis rises into the air with him in her grasp and returns him to the Earth with a storm hammer. As he stands, Artemis delivers an elbow smash. Taking it, Joe returns with one of his own. Now Joe starts delivering his strikes, staying one step ahead of her grasp.
After being sent down by Joe's thigh press, Artemis stands with no choice but to block Joe's TNT Punches to the best of her ability. Looking weary she struggles to stand. Yet as Joe prepares to finish her with a final blow, new life springs into her eyes, and she crushes him with a stomach pump. Joe's attempts to escape are in vain.
Terry faces off Artemis. Terry delivers a fierce after walking into her elbow smash. Artemis goes for a grab, but Terry leaps back already predicting it. Terry then blocks her diving hawk and returns it with a Rising Tackle. Win goes to Terry.
Having shaken off the strain of the last fight completely, Terry enters the arena with Apollo.
Terry: "I have reservations about fighting you, kid."
Apollo: "Please don't hold back. I won't."
Apollo opens up with his Divine Light. Terry blocks it with an energy of his own. Telling the kid, "You've become too predictable!" As the energy breaks and flows around him, the entire stage shakes, and one of Terry's knees buckles. As wisps of the sunfire are still rising off Terry, Apollo prepares to fire again. Terry stumbles, unable to gain his bearings. The blast strikes him, launching him into a back flip from which Terry lands on his face.
Turning his body sideways, Terry manages to take a glancing blow from the last blast in the stream. Though knocked down again, he is not incapacitated and stands as the yellow fire fades from Apollo's palm. Terry, perhaps in disbelief and anger at himself, growls, "How is such power possible?"
Terry leaps with a short kick and meets Apollo's short kick in midair. The kid's foot connects with his head, but Terry flips himself and delivers his own. Apollo falls and drags himself along the ground while Terry fights to remain standing. "Get ready for it," Terry shouts, "Power Geyser!"
Apollo stands as the consuming destruction approaches and fires his Divine Light. The Power Geyser parts for Apollo like the waters for Moses, and Terry is sent flying from the arena in flames.
Apollo resumes his place while Sakura and the somewhat conscious Artemis give him support and water.
Andy enters the arena, taking a silent kopo-ken stance (except for Mai screaming like a cheerleader). El Referino proclaims, "Fight!" and Apollo fires like clockwork; however, Andy is no longer standing there.
"Looking for me?" Andy whispers from a foot behind. Apollo turns to blast him, but Andy delivers an elbow smash that only allows him to contemplate the pain. Wasting no time (and with practiced speed), Andy then performs a Sho Ryu Dan. Apollo's block is fast enough, but he still suffers serious injury.
Apollo then fires a point blank Divine Light. Andy, though trying to block, is helpless against it and is sent to the ground stunned. Yet, blocking was apparently not the only trick up his sleeve for it seemed some of the energy was reflected off his body. Expecting Andy to rise, Apollo throws a kick that is easily deflected by Andy's crouching block. Apollo then has no choice but to take Andy's elbow smash. Off guard now, Apollo unleashes his sunfire again, but Andy leaps from the path (though his clothes are singed by the closeness).
Apollo quickly pivots to the next direction and fires with fury; however, Andy calmly leans back in a stance and with slow deliberate motion leans forward and introduces the Hisho Ryusei Ken. Andy's dragonfire and Apollo's sunfire meet halfway, causing both warriors to step back and guardrails to drop. Then, there is a stillness.
Completely shocked, Apollo stands with eyes wide as Andy launches into a Choreppadan. Apollo raises his hand and launches a stream of sunfire, saying, "Divine . . ." Andy alters his course slightly to dodge it, but as Apollo says, "Retribution," the beam then splits outward into five streams which arc back to impale Andy as if he were the center of a wheel. Screaming and on fire, he crashes to the ground, not moving. But with a clench of his fingers, he slowly begins to get to his feet.
Andy smiles and says, "What are you going to do now without your precious sunfire?"
Apollo leaps in with a short kick, and Andy counterattacks with a kopo-ken chop. Apollo then trades a forward kick for an elbow smash, using force of will to shrug off the pain while Andy's body seems unnaturally resistant to the blows. Both warriors face each other, perhaps with their last amount of strength. Pivoting into a grab, Andy's arms fly through air as Apollo drops to the ground on one foot, the other outstretched. Like a buzz saw, the crouching hurricane kick smashes repeatedly into Andy's legs. As Apollo spins back into a standing stance, Andy collapses. Then, Apollo passes out.
"By a decision," the referee proclaims, "the man standing the longest wins. Thusly, Team Pantheon will advance to the next round."
