This chronicle presents a version of history different
from the source materials from which various characters are taken.
The Scenario
The year is 1994. The events of Street Fighter Alpha have passed, and the events of Street Fighter II are beginning. Cammy,
T. Hawk, Fei Long, and Dee Jay are to be in this year's World Warrior tournament, the tournament which Shadoloo is rumored to
control. In previous tournaments, M. Bison himself is said to have appeared before the
winners. M. Bison, as you may know, is the ruler of Mri Granka, a small country
to which the criminal organization of Shadoloo is said to have some relation.
Also, it is the first year of a highly publicized re-invented tournament, the
now global King of Fighters tournament. The sponsor turns out to be the black market leader and Shadoloo
competitor, Rugal Bernstein. Rugal challenges the winners to a death match and
is himself killed, having self-destructed his base. Now, there are whispers in the underground community that he may be alive. It is said he has stolen a top secret new aircraft carrier from America and that the United States is highly distressed. Rugal has been sending out personal challenges for strong fighters to meet him aboard his ship, the Black Noah. He also seems to be searching for something. Why doesn't the USA simply locate the ship and take it back? No one is sure.
It is during this time in 1994 that Barahime Hino and Alexi Martin meet for the first time
during one of the many under and illegal Street Fighter matches. The corporate
princess and the usually broke down-on-his-luck professional wrestler become
unlikely friends.
Now it's 1995, a major corporation, the J'hana Group, has created a stable to compete in this year's tournaments. Five years ago, Miranda J'hana, the CEO, died under mysterious circumstances. Since then, her daughter,
Reimi J'hana, has taken control. She has expressed an interest in martial arts competition. What could she be planning?
At the very least, the King of Fighters tournament now has new backing and is certain to return.
The Tragic Events
Sarah Kingsley, a Japanese-raised American, is attacked outside a pizza place while driving in San Francisco at night. Her close friend Michelle Imgonnadie is horribly killed in the crash, but Sarah is rescued from the soon to explode wreck by
the former pro-wrestler, Alexi Martin, who works at the pizza place. The assailants escape.
After Sarah returns to Japan with her boyfriend, Iori Yagami, she sends a distressing letter to her American hero requesting help. The former wrestler and his
unnamed bar-owning sidekick (hey, my name was Raven) rush overseas to find Iori Yagami crucified in a scorched blood-filled apartment in Osaka (a severed hand or two can be found on the floor). After learning from Iori that Sarah had been abducted by people working for Gold Corp., the
heroes rush to the Gold Corp. building in Osaka to save her from a heinous transmogrification
experiment. The heroes also save a few of the lab technicians from the evil, scary in-charge woman,
Saki, who is strangling a lab technician for poor performance. (She is the demon woman who crucified Iori.) The characters unplug Sarah before the "% Complete" counter increases much more, and they get away, although missing part of the taxi which Saki ripped off during the escape.
For many days afterwards, Sarah is too shaken to interact, but she eventually recuperates. Somehow, she a feels a bit different, but it's probably nothing.
After the heroes regroup, they do a bit of research. Saki apparently used to work for Miranda J'hana but hates Reimi J'hana. Gold Corporation has disappeared, having been nothing but a front. After leaving the hospital, Iori made no attempt to find Sarah, acting indifferently.
Alexi is not upset that Iori won't be hanging around. Also, Alexi's bar-owning
friend decides to retire.
Two More Friends Appear
The bodies of six young Japanese girls, their hearts torn out, are recovered from rivers, mostly in Osaka. The first body is found by a diligent psychic
street fighting Canadian tourist, Daniel Higgs. This causes a large commotion
which draws Alexi, Barahime, and Kagero
Ten'oh - former cat burglar turned full-time ninja with an unknown purpose.
Invitations have been sent out by a woman called Chizuru Kagura for a tournament in Kyoto in the near future. After a small tournament where she is giving such invitations to some choice contenders, a few brave fighters help her when she is attacked by ninja
assassins led by a woman named Vina. Chizuru extends invitation to her rescuers (in which she senses a similar purpose) to discuss at some point the things in the world worth fighting against. Alexi Martin, Daniel Higgs, and Kagero accept.
A Gold Corp. lab tech reveals that many girls came to the installation before Sarah. And once, Saki was seen eating something in an off-limits storeroom, her face and hands covered in blood.
A Japanese tournament is held in Honshuu, reuniting Alexi, Sarah, Daniel, and Kagero. The characters learn of the mutual dislike between Reimi and Saki. Having been shown notes taken from the Gold Corp. installation, Reimi gives her phone number to the diligent Canadian so that the discussion can be continued. Returning to their hotel, the characters are assaulted by Saki's thugs, but her thugs (including a man named Ryuji Yamazaki) are stopped.
Later that evening, Kagero follows a woman named Vina, who led the earlier assassination attempt on Chizuru, from the tournament. Vina's disguise is uncovered, and the return of Rugal Bernstein is strongly hinted. Also, a keycard to Rugal's ship, the Black Noah, is swiped from Vina (actually, she
clumsily drops it).
Tremors . . .
After a brief excursion to stop a Chi-draining plot by Shadoloo and fighting an escaped manmade demon in New Mexico, Alexi, Barahime Hino, Daniel, and Kagero return to Japan. Alexi and Daniel travel to Kyoto where Chizuru reveals the Orochi legend to them. She explains how her sister's murder (at the hands of a man who controlled the wind) six years ago has broken the seal on the Orochi power. Now, one among eight individuals in whom the Orochi blood flows the strongest may become the vessel into which the
dragon-god Orochi will be reborn. Chizuru invites Alexi and Daniel to help her
run her tournament in one month (which is a scheme to gather the suspected players in this prophecy so that it may be stopped).
Also, Daniel meets up with a British aura user by the name of Alandra who has been tracking Shadoloo activities in Japan and investigating Rugal Bernstein.
At the Burning Vigor tournament in Tokyo, Alexi, Kagero, and Sarah are attacked by Saki. Alexi's head is driven into the wall, but Kagero stands up to the monster woman, allowing Daniel to catch up and Sarah to overcome her paralyzing horror. Saki escapes, but her schemes are foiled again. Saki tells Sarah that she cannot escape her fate. Also, some characters realize that they've been freeloading off the Hino Estate (courtesy of Barahime) for much too long.
The Beginning of Dan's Long Dark Night
After battling Shadoloo forces, Daniel, Kagero, and Alandra infiltrate a black market weapons auction held by
Rugal Bernstein. Alandra poses as a weapons buyer while Dan and Kagero play
her thugs. Vina is seen playing assistant to a red-haired woman named Ravenna. These two well-dressed business women seem to be running the show although an overheard
phone call seems to indicate that they are indeed working for Rugal Bernstein (who seems to be back from the
dead).
In the basement of this auction, the party discovers a holding room for Japanese teenagers who are to be sold as slaves. Kagero and Daniel free them during the auction, managing to fend off Ravenna and numerous thugs. Alandra is attacked in the auction room by Vina (who noticed that Alandra's
thugs were gone when things started going wrong and assumed her involvement), but Alandra defeats her and escapes.
Alexi and Daniel accompany Kagero to her father's home near Osaka while Alandra heads into Tokyo to finish her assessment of Shadoloo and Rugal before leaving Japan.
While visiting, Kagero's neighbors try to steal the ancestral land from her family.
While foiling this plot, she discovers, inside the Ten'oh ancestral shrine, a room detailing 4 "regular" dragons and 4 heavenly kings who control the elements as the Eight Orochi Warriors. Also, weather disturbances around the shrine may be related to the theft of a crown from the hidden room. The crown was protected, but the wards had been tossed aside. Also, the characters struggle to translate a warning
inscribed onto the crown's pedestal, "Only by the sun and the moon will the
dragon's reign end." Chizuru is called, and the characters discuss the future. They fear Saki may be trying to artificially create an Orochi from Sarah. The word "vessel" has surfaced both in Saki's schemes and in the Orochi legend.
Also, Kagero hears that someone (Deryl Sipher) she knew from her childhood had been kidnapped several months ago.
The evening before Alandra must leave for Canada to meet her group, she and Daniel discuss the Aura User society over dinner. They promise to meet up again and part ways, but in a horrifying turn of events, Alandra is grabbed from behind by Ravenna whose arms seem to move more like snakes than arms. Before Daniel and Alandra can react, Ravenna consumes Alandra's head in one bite and dashes into the shadows, not recognizing Daniel as the disguised thug who attended the black market weapons auction.
After walking a day's journey from Tokyo to the Hino Estate without sleep , Daniel arrives
in a state of shock to learn that Alexi has been kidnapped by Shadoloo. After helping to save Alexi from Rick
(the Dark Helmet version of M.Bison), Daniel finally sleeps.
A Secret Place
The characters investigate a secret hideaway of Miranda J'hana's with help from Reimi J'hana (who contacted them for help in investigating due to their experience with Saki). Evidence was found pointing to someone having been shot there, to demon summoning rituals having been performed (most likely to summon Saki), and to the setting up of a tournament called VG. Miranda's library reads like an occult dictionary and contains everything one would need to become a god and/or transcend the mortal plane. Also, a listing of a hidden department of the J'hana Group is
uncovered, detailing a secret J'hana research facility. Reimi bids the characters farewell, having obtained what she wanted.
Alexi, Daniel, Kagero, and Sarah bust into the secret J'hana research facility. A geothermal-powered
transmogrification accelerator is found in the basement, the original of the Machine
that Sarah was subjected to for her preparation as "the vessel." Sarah walks into the Machine, apparently of her own volition, but is pulled from the closed glass chamber by Kagero, causing the Machine to feedback on itself and self-destruct. A big fight ensues with Saki, Yamazaki, and ninja
sidekick Eiji. Roy O'Bannon, an off-duty American soldier, wanders into this
fight completely by accident! Having awoken, Sarah tosses herself in the path of Saki's energy blast
(meant for her rescuers) to save the moment at the fight's end. Upon striking her, Saki's eyes are filled with tears, and she cries Miranda's name.
Saki, Ryuji Yamazaki - annoyed henchman, and the ninja sidekick are defeated as a volcanic eruption begins to occur. Saki is tossed into
the fiery
crack by Roy O'Bannon. All other goons are left to burn. The lab building sinks into the lava flow in downtown Numazu.
Scratch one J'hana facility that was kept from Reimi's attention by mommy dearest.
The Goddess Rising Chronicle Fades Out (for the moment).
Tournament of the Eight Gods (Goenitz's Arrival)
The Tournament of the Eight Gods is held in Kyoto by Chizuru Kagura at a lavish, gargantuan, and ancient Shinto shrine. The three star judges are Bob Barker, Kuni from Wheel of Fish, and Alex
Trebeck. As a team, Alexi, Kagero, and Roy win three fights only to be defeated in the pre-final battle by the Ikari Team which goes on to defeat the Japan Hero Team
and win the tournament. Chizuru and Daniel uncover three people likely to have Orochi blood: Iori, Leona, and Ryuji Yamazaki - who frighteningly survived being left to burn in lava. Rugal also appears to be in attendance in disguise (badly
disguised - in a big sombrero).
For the finale, one of the famous judges, Alex Trebeck, fights Deryl Sipher (a
challenger whose backer paid for this privilege). Sipher is an emaciated figure with ragged white hair. He moves like a monster, and before he can rip Trebeck's arms all the way off, Chizuru dives from the 2nd level to the arena. A wind blast rockets from the crowd at her, but Kagero leaps to knock her from the attack's path. Both women are gravely wounded
- but not killed - by the graze. Alexi and Roy subdue Sipher; however, the "wind demon" escapes before Daniel, Barahime, and Kagero can stop him.
This, of course, sets the stage for the emergence of Cyber-Trebeck.
The heroes track Sipher's backers, Heaven's Wind, to a corporate building. They arrive in time to see the building destroyed from the inside by a tornado and see a wounded Rugal Bernstein leave the scene, his right
eye having been removed by the wind demon. A few words were overheard:
Rugal: "The power will be mine."
Rugal: (screams)
Wind Demon: "Very well. Enjoy it while it lasts."
Rugal and the wind demon both leave the scene. Daniel and Kagero give chase (in a dramatic
car chase) to Rugal and his two present secretaries, Madeline Mature and Ravenna.
Daniel and Kagero are defeated after running Rugal off the
road (by fireballing the driver and causing the car to flip end-over-end). An annoyed and pained Rugal continues on his
way, clutching his injured face. Daniel came close to exacting his revenge upon Ravenna, but was in the end, lucky to have survived the fierce fight.
