Davensport's Great Lakes Street Fighter Challenge
Dan has a tarot reading by Maximillian Hart which greatly disturbs, that and he is told to look for Chi disturbances which Shadoloo is also searching for.
The characters travel to Davensport, the armpit of America, to stop a Shadoloo plot to beat up and cripple some known resistance fighters. Shadoloo has analyzed their fighting styles, and it's up to the players to challenge the Shadoloo fighters in the tournament before they can fight their chosen targets. Dan makes mincemeat of the new rising Muey Tai star, Zod Randal, dropping him a rank. Someday, many believed Zod would fill Sagat's shoes. Now, that future for him is in question.
At the tournament, Dan meats the Barbarian, a fighter who wears a strange medallion and is hunting an evil wizard. The Barbarian refrains from using his battle-axe in the ring.
Kagero steals a scroll and tournament invitiation from Yomishi, a kickboxer who summons evil spirits to attack his opponents in the ring. He was also Iori's KOF 95 teammate.
After beating up some Shadoloo operatives at a night club and nearly killing the boss, the players discover plans for a new Shadoloo operation, going down that night at a nearby church, St. Goddard's. This in exchange for saving the life (with their medical skills) of said Shadoloo boss, Gerald Callowind (aka Callous). He seems to dislike the Shadoloo boss of this other operation anyway.
The characters come across an actual knight fighting a dragon in an alleyway and kill the beast with the knight's sword. Before passing on to the next life, the knight passes his medallion, the Tao-Saloc, to Kagero. He tells her to show it at the gates. With that cryptic remark he dies. It strangely resembles the medallion that the Barbarian wore.
At the church, Dan finds the first of the Chi disturbances, a crystal locked for centuries in the church basement. He unlocks Lillith who joins the party. The party just barely repels an unholy figure by the name of Tres, who is after Lillith. This "man" who caused the stain glass windows of the church to shatter by approaching has the backing of Shadoloo.
London Rage
After doing research on the Tao-Saloc and the knight, the characters have a skirmish with Billy Kane, Hugo, and Roxy at Roxy's nightclub. The characters also prevent Tres from capturing Lord Raptor by freeing him.
Lung Tsao and the Devil-Tiger's Howl
The character's have many bad incidents with Lung Tsao. He tries to
have Dan's sister's kidnapped.
Their first encounter is at the large Devil-Tiger lair in Hong Kong,
a place where families watch their loved ones bleed to death and people
are skinned alive. Lung Tsao escapes. They are left with nightmarish memories of vats of bodies and meat hooks, of paintings that proclaim the heavenliness of agony and suffering.
The characters discover that his two Wu Shu bodyguards serve through
threat of their families. After freeing his bodyguards from service and
hearing that Lung Tsao hired replacement kopo-ken bodyguards, the party
enlists the aid of Andy Bogard in return for a favor, and finally kills
Lung Tsao, a man who had already died once - a thing that stayed alive
by drinking the Chi energy from living beings.
The party is left with the mystery of a letter written to Lung Tsao
by his master, Yang Shi, and a painting of an ancient temple lost in myth.
Southtown and the Hungry Wolves
The party returns the favor to Andy Bogard by helping him and his brother, Terry, to attack the man who killed their father. Their target, Geese Howard, is visiting the Randal Academy in Southtown. Sagat is there for the meeting although he leaves later. Still, the characters and the Bogards are repelled by Geese and his bodyguards Billy Kane, Ripper, and Hopper. Zod Randal becomes the unfortunate victim of a Sarah/Alexi double-team. Roy got a rematch with Riley Randal although there was no clear victor.
The Iron Fist Tournament in China
The characters, having learned of the tournament from a ticket stolen from Yomishi, enter the Iron Fist tournament in the Gobe desert. The judges presiding are Douglas Fame, Heihachi Mishima, and Wolfgang Krauser (unannounced but present). The contestants are a combination of Dead or Alive and Tekken fighters.
Yomishi picks off contestants from the shadows, looking for the ones who stole his scroll, until the players track him down and stop his crippling of the contestants between fights. Dan crushes Zod Randal yet again before being defeated by a newcomer, Kromm Steinburg, who uses Genocide Cutter. With his laugh and move, the characters surmise Rugal has returned from the dead. However, the victor of the tournament goes to Desolation Joe, an unknown who blew in with the desert wind - who can take a Genocide Cutter with flinching and down an opponent with a single punch.
The character's show the scroll Yomishi had to Iori. The scroll reveals one of Kyo Kusanagi's techniques. For messing with the Kusanagi style, Iori later throws Yomishi out a building window. He'll need a new team for this year's KOF.
The Chinese Amazons
In search of the Hidden Weapons technique, Kagero searches out the Chinese Amazons, telling Dan it's for a lead on Yang Shi. Dan ends up getting hitched to Ling Ling much to his dismay. This was pretty much straight out of Ranma.
India and House Valaron
The players travel to India to stop the evil wizard Valamar of the House Valaron with the help of the Barbarian and Dhalsim (before the wizard can conquer Earth).
The evil wizard came from an evil family banished long ago from the Barbarian's home dimension of New Jersey. After defeating the evil wizard, the Barbarian gives the players medallions, Tao-Salocs, which will enable them to participate in a tournament called the Chaak. He askes them to fight in it for the purpose of not using the evil Horned Helmet (so no one else can) which is also an ancient evil spawned from his world.
Barahime also makes her growing distrust of the relationship between Dan and Rebecca (the vampire) clear when she notices a ring on his finger. Dan had previously gone to see Rebecca to get her to leave Bara alone, but something obviously transpired between the two of them. Bara makes it clear that the friend of her enemy is her enemy, and Dan will have to choose between them if this is the case.
In the epilogue, Alexi receives a phone call that he must go and rescue a kidnapped Sarah from Rick.
The City Manager Yang Shi
Chi Lin whom the players now fully realize is an undead spirit avenging the death of his family at the hands of Yang Shi rejoins the group along with Alexi, having returned from saving Sarah from Shadoloo.
Discovering that Yang Shi is in fact the City Manager of Hong Kong, the party infiltrates both his place of business and his home. They find a wife, a daughter, and bodyguards at home. The daughter is a vegetable, trapped in a living nightmare. Her father was never quite himself after that heart attack. When she began to realize that it wasn't her father anymore, she was locked into her mind, a waking dream with no escape. The party calls in An Shen, a buddhist monk to exorcise her.
Meanwhile, the rest of the party does some investigating. From one of their "test" phone calls, he figures out their identity. Aware of the people who dispatched his right hand, Lung Tsao, he sets a trap, and they walk into a firing squad sandwhich of security guards who somehow believed when he said they were terrorists. While the players are being shot to pieces, Yang Shi comes out to kick some butt (but is in the end chopped in two by the avenging Chi Lin's ghostly sword and powerbombed by Alexi).
However, Chi Lin's head is ripped from his body by Yang Shi before he admits defeat, and the buddhist monk the players brought to fight Yang Shi's demonic power is shot in the head during the firefight. It is by a narrow margin that the players survive. When moving Alexi's mortally wounded body (multiple gunshots), the players discover that Alexi is in fact a Shadoloo clone. Kagero is also in shock from having used mystic vision to look upon Yang Shi's true demonic form.
On the very next, Yang Shi makes a scheduled press conference! There is also an article about a man declared dead after a heart attack who apparently got up and walked out of the morgue the previous that very morning.
Saving Civilian Alexi
Barahime and Dan travel to California to save the real Alexi from Rick, the Shadoloo boss. They succeed.
The Chaak and the Prisoner of the Horned Helmet
Straight out of Battlegods, the characters travel to Peru to enter a tournament held in honor of the Mayan water god for the prize of the Horned Helmet (although they find it is merely a gimmick - the true prize is an audience with the Gods). While there, the party becomes entangled in Mayan politics and have to seize the power of the Gods to fight them when they are summoned and enraged by a power mad man's plot to defeat them. Dan manages to seize the Horned Helmet as his prize for helping to defeat the four Mayan gods. (Why would the mystical entrance to a Mayan tournament be in Peru? Who's to say that the same gods were not known to many cultures by different names?)
The Horned Helmet of the Death God isn't easily removed, in fact only Ling Ling seems able to remove it from Dan.
Yang Shi: Hell on Earth
With time dwindling to return to Yang Shi to hell before the characters souls are forfeit to the Iron Empress in the Hell of Being Skinned Alive, the players seek out Yang Shi in full force.
The Devil Tigers and Thrashing Dragon triads are at war.
Ling Xiao warns the party that the White Lotus Assassins Guild has been called in to kill them. While casually walking the HK streets, a deadly Snake Style Kung Fu practitioner attacks by mystically squeezing internal organs from a distance, but worse, Gen appears and devastates the party before they realize what is happening. By chance, Blue Mary is in the area and catches Gen offguard before he can do anymore damage. It takes all their energy just to escape with their lives. Mary accompanies the party to check on Yamazaki and see if he'd be willing to help with the Yang Shi problem.
The Dragon's Den is shot to pieces and Yamazaki's Orochi power (The Riot of Blood) is unleashed. After Dan helps him get it under control, he agrees to give any help he can to take down Yang Shi. When the party returns to see Ling Xiao, they barely escape a briefcase bomb left by one of the assassins.
Later with information gained from a raid on a Devil Tiger hideout, the players warn the Thrashing Dragons about a sneak attack on their festival. The Dragons thusly ambush Devil Tigers during their sneak attack and Yamazaki gets some much needed payback. Some financial files that bear further investigation are also uncovered. It is also confirmed that Lung Tsao has been replaced (by a demonic man with foot-long knives for fingernails).
After talking to many people, Kagero contacts a mysterious Chinese alchemist about information on Yang Shi. He was a monk over 2000 years ago in a temple devoted to Kuan Yin, Goddess of Peace. He led a revolt against a madman, the leader of his order. Things were quiet for a time. Then, people started to notice things - like the temple being redecorated with the innards of members of the order. Yang Shi was executed, but rumors began of a terror in the land. The Kuan Yin monks vanished and mists hung heavily over the temple in the hills. Fear made people move far from the place, and time made them forget the place and events were more than myth. If Yang Shi's actual self is anywhere, it is there.
The location of the cursed Kuan Yin temple has a price, a sacred Tai Chi scroll which belongs to Sarah Kingsley's sensei in China. Most likely, the Tai Chi master will not part willingly with such a sacred relic. The alchemist says he wants to be sure of the group's devotion. It would be better, he says, for them not to go, but if they prove the lengths to which they will go, he will tell. Only then will his conscience be clear of telling them of a place where they will go never to return. The group ponders if the information is worth the price.
Barahime suggests returning to her mansion outside Tokyo for some R&R and research into Devil Tiger documents (with the better resources she has at home). The trip is uneventful, except for the van parked outside the gates of the mansion which explodes, erasing the front half of the mansion, killing almost all occupants and sending out a shockwave for 5 miles which levels most everything. After the group (travelling in two cars) sees the light flash, Bara's Rolls Royce is launched upside down by the shockwave into the rental car driven by Roy. The shock sends Hans, Bara's limo driver, into cardiac arrest from a recently diagnosed heart condition, and Yang Shi possesses him. The group then fights a desperate battle to kill or be killed by Yang Shi, only stopping halfway upon recognizing the limo driver uniform and realizing that it's Hans. They barely manage to drive out Yang Shi's spirit and revive Hans.
Yang Shi: Death to Miranda J'hana
The party borrows the sacred Tai Chi scrolls, allowing the alchemist to copy them in exchange for the location of the Kuan Yin temple. The party then begins preparing for their departure. Unfortunately, Sarah is kidnapped by the Devil Tigers several days later, late in the planning stages for the mission to kill Yang Shi's true form. Alexi dashes after the car and is surprisingly joined by Saki who must have been spying on them for some time. The car is too fast.
Sarah is taken to Los Angeles to evaluate and destroy the only being that Yang Shi fears.
Saki joins the party in the rescue mission. Near the top of an LA corporate tower, Sarah has been locked in a chamber at side of a vast room across from another chamber containing a young child, Microburst (since Rock Howard escaped with the help of Mamoru Kusanagi and Si). In this vast super-collider room filled with all the well known Devil Tiger villains and assassins, a golden bubble forms in midair as the power from those in the two chambers pulls Miranda J'hana into the real world through Sarah Kingsley. The head research injects himself with something allowing Yang Shi to possess and transform his body.
Then, the room's purpose, to kill Miranda, is activated. She mocks the non-gods and shatters the machinery before vanishing. The party then attacks. Dan dons the Horned Helmet. Gen and many villains die as does Yang Shi's host but not before revealing a bit of Yang Shi's true monstrous form, an unholy thing not fit to look upon.
Saki turns on the party, grabbing Sarah and knocking a hole in the wall at the highrise's peak. She offers Alexi a chance to join her, and he accepts in defeat. She leaps from the skyscraper and asks Miranda for her love, at which point two golden wings fit for angel carry her and her passengers to the streets.
Below LA, Saki has created a laboratory, cobbled from parts acquired from Tiger Labs (which Yang Shi's Devil Tiger's had sold to the Syndicate). Alexi recognizes various mystical principles relating to the very same Tai Chi scrolls the party had acquired. The purpose of the place and its geothermal power source, is to bring Sarah's conversion to 100% (from the approximately 67% that Starpoint Labs had accomplished).
None other than Ravenna, burned and scarred swathed in robes, is Saki's henchwench (thought killed by Dan Higgs when her flaming body was blasted through the Earth in Tokyo). Alexi forms a brief alliance with the gaki demon. However, her natural demonic powers are no match for Saki's unnatural power and Ravenna is hurled down the geothermal shaft for her betrayal of the one who dragged her carcass from death's door. Alexi, for better or worse, decides not to interfere. Saki then explains that her purpose is to prevent Sarah's death. Supposedly, her body has a time limit if it is not brought to her 100%. Not certain whether to believe her and for what reason Saki has for keeping him in good health, he hesitates, but he knows the one truth that he cannot allow Saki to have Sarah. However, he is also defeated, and Saki watches the countdown: "Omega Codex Complete, Avatar Status Survival Rate 100%".
Later as Sarah drags Alexi through the sewers, she tells him when she awoke, she saw Saki greeting her with a look of relief, but that look changed to hurt and betrayal when she unloaded all of her firepower into Saki. Not really believing Saki can die, she left her smoking body and escaped the melting down geothermal lab. Fortunately, Tommy Lee Jones showed up to handle the volcano appearing in the middle of LA.
Afterwards, the party is thanked by Megaton for saving Microburst. The party still to this day is balking at his real name, Lucius.
Yang Shi: The Cursed Temple of Kuan Yin
Built in 1200 BC, the temple devoted to peace is now an accursed place of hellish torment and meditation on things that should not be known. Into the misty mountains of China where fighter jetsa and army squads have not returned, the party travels to battle the the eight undead monks and their demon lord. Afterwards, the party travels to find the cure for the horrible curse (True Dim Mak) that plagues them in the aftermath.
Storyteller learns weird fact
Apparently, Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Sakura's style is called Ansatsuken. Capcom USA changed it to Shotokan.
