Official Tournaments and Matches

The Street Fighter Tournament

Controlled by the WSA (World Street Fighter Association), numerous matches are held throughout the year by various organizers (and with varying rules) with official observers of the WSA present. For the fight to count, an observer of the WSA must be present. At the end of the season (once per year), all fighters of rank 10 or with the title of World Warrior enter into a final elimination tournament.
Fights are one bout of 10 rounds with the winner advancing. Fighters usually start with four hexes in between them. Points (damage inflicted and other modifiers) are counted by the judges in case the fight does NOT end with a KO. Arguing over the "mysterious point system" is what managers are good for. And the "mysterious modifiers" (perhaps loosely based on Honor & Glory) sometimes allow a judge to give a Loss to someone whom he just doesn't like.

The victor of the elimination tournament must face 3 champions designated by the WSA. The same match rules apply.

World Warrior Match

To become a World Warrior by defeating one, you must obey these bout rules:
Winner is determined by winning 2 out of 3 matches.
Matches are 10 rounds. Time in between the fights is usually 15 minutes. Fighers get an Honor roll between fights.
A WSA observer must be present.
This match counts as a single fight for your Win/Loss record.

Ranking Matches

Challenge a fighter of a higher rank.
Fight per the rules of WW tournament. If you win, you obtain a rank equal to that fighter.
Usually only permitted when a fighter is first starting the tournament circuit in order to determine rank of a fighter with a known high degree of skill.

The King of Fighters Tournament

An elimination match spanning several months (usually three) with teams of three fighters. Fights are brutal endurance matches.
  Rules:
After the order of the fighters within the teams are determined, fights are one on one matches with both teams continuing to send challengers until one team no longer has members in its queue.
Example: The 1st member of both teams fight. The 2nd fighter of the losing team (Team B) then fights the 1st fighter of Team A. If the 2nd fighter of Team B is defeated, the 3rd and last member of Team B fights the 1st fighter of Team A. The 3rd fighter defeats the 1st fighter of the Team A and then gets to fight the 2nd fighter of that team. In this example, the 1st fighter of Team A ends up fighting three people with barely time to recover in between.
Matches are 10 rounds. Time in between the fights is usually non-existant. Fighers get an Honor roll between fights.
The KOF does NOT count towards the Win/Loss record of your WSA rank.
