PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Sylvio is a youthful male who appears to be in his early thirties. Normally, he is quite effeminite in appearance, and he has nearly no body hair. He stands about five feet five inches tall, and is quite "svelte." He has a magnetism that is difficult to describe, but one thing can be said for sure -- he's extremely attractive and well manicured. His skin is olive in color, and he has deep brown eyes. What little hair he has is black and closely cut.
Of course, this physical description is of Sylvio personally. Seldom, if ever, will anyone ever see him this way. He's almost always incognito in any of his aliases. Given his status with most megacorps and a number of countries, the more he changes his identity, the better.
DISPOSITION: Sylvio is a master actor, and his personality can best be described as polymorphic. Quite frankly, Sylvio doesn't have much of a personality of his own. What little he feels or would describe as "his own" has been driven into him by the extreme conditioning that Aztechnology put him through. One thing is for certain, however -- he's morally bankrupt. He has no mental hangups with killing (oftentimes will seemingly little provocation), and this certainly makes his job as an assassin easier.
Sylvio is an extrememly vindicitve individual, and this emotion is something he has to work to keep in check. If he's slighted, he wants to make a payback. He's not foolish about it -- he can wait, but he will attempt to avenge himself. The way he seeks revenge isn't always predictable. An insult may result in four flat tires some night in a parking lot for the individual who insulted him. On another night, the same comment could yield the death of a loved one.
On occasion, Sylvio tends to suffer from flashbacks. These almost always seem to involve the ocean, which he has a distinct fear of (to the point of an allergic reaction). Something traumatic happened to Sylvio involving the ocean at some point in his past, but he's unsure as to what it was. That part of his memory simply isn't available to him.
HISTORY: Officially speaking, Sylvio has no history prior to 2053. In that year, he surfaced as a member of the Aztechnology Leopard Guard. It should be said, rather, that his name surfaced within the Leopard Guard. No one seems to have a description of him, though, which has caused much speculation both inside and outside of Aztlan, particularly among his "enemies."
Sylvio was apparently trained as a physical mage, and his skills in the area of acting, disguise, stealth, and assassination are well developed. A number of megacorporations (and some governments) have developed files on Sylvio, and these files see additions every few to several months. Sylvio is extremely elusive and careful about covering his tracks, and as a result hasn't been caught -- yet. Most experts figure it's only a matter of time before Sylvio slips up, but until that time, these megacorporations and governments are tracking him. Some are even rumored to offer a bounty for him.
Most of Sylvio's assignments involve the megacorporations that were involved in Operation RECIPROCITY against Aztechnology, particularly those of Japanese origin. Both Tir Tairngire and Tir Na Nog seem to have a great desire to see Sylvio captured and/or killed, but one can only guess at the motivations behind this. Sylvio has also done some work in the CAS and UCAS, but this work is minor compared to his work within the Japanese megacorporations. All of his work is deniable, and all of it is low-profile.
MEANS OF OPERATION: Sylvio operates under several aliases, all of which have been carefully constructed and maintained. Some have SINs, others are without. These aliases are usually known and recognized within the areas they operate, but none have been around personally for more than four or five years. While this can be a long period of time in the shadows, it isn't for the average person. In the case of those aliases with SINs, a background has been constructed by Aztechnology to maintain the integrity of the alias (GM discretion on how well these backgrounds hold up under scrutiny). These "individuals" typically stay in an area for a period of time (whether to Shadowrun or carry out a company objective -- sometimes one in the same), and then they disappear for a while.
In each area of operation, Sylvio maintains contacts and one or more safehouses. These safehouses are stocked with equipment that Sylvio may need, and he tries to travel without carrying more than necessary. Oftentimes, adjustments can be made (through the use of spells) to existing clothing, for instance, negating the need to obtain clothes of a specific style. This approach keeps him capable of great mobility and capability without the need to haul large amounts of equipment with him.
Sylvio receives his objectives in a number of different fashions. He doesn't know who his "boss" is. His objectives come to him via matrix, through anonymous handoffs, or sometimes just "magically" appear in a safehouse. He knows that the company keeps tabs on him, and he frankly doesn't mind it -- he's come to expect it (and has been conditioned to accept it). He then is expected to carry out the described objective or die trying.
ALIASES
SUSAN TOSHIDA (STREET NAME: DAISHI): Daishi is the predominate alias through which Sylvio operates while in Japan. Daishi has no SIN, but there is some information about her "identity" in the matrix. It is known that she's from Japan, and she keeps a doss in Tokyo. She has parents and a brother who live in Kyoto, and she is known to visit them frequently (she's "close" to her family). She works as an independent dealer in arcane goods, and it is known in the shadows that she can sometimes come across some good deals, particularly in the area of alchemical materials and some foci. She travels around the world looking for these materials, and deals only with those she's met face-to-face. Getting an introduction to her is difficult, because she's often elsewhere in the world seeking goods. She occasionally hires runners to help her on a difficult run, although the objectives of these runs are usually mysterious in nature.
Physically, Daishi is stunning. She wears her dark black hair in a shoulderblade-length ponytail most of the time, and she tends to go for the occasional touch of traditional white-face makeup. Her dark olive skin is smooth, her eyes are blue, and her frame is about average for a human woman of her age (deceptive, but guessed at about 28). She usually dresses in a black kimono, and this is supplemented with armor as needed. She usually maintains a warm and friendly presence, which is a bit unusual for a Japanese woman. In business meetings, however, her face is unmoving.
In terms of maintaining this identity, Sylvio can usually get away with nothing more than a hairpiece and some makeup (the kimono will typically do the rest). If necessary, this can be augmented with some help from spells. Since Daishi is a dealer in mystic goods, however, Sylvio prefers to avoid spell use in this fashion. Onlookers she deals with, knowing her reputation, are likely to assense her or the goods she deals with. Cosmetic spells could cause problems.
SPUDS: Spuds is the alias used by Sylvio when in the Seattle area. Spuds claims he grew up on the streets, and as such he has no SIN. He lives in a burned out old church in Redmond that he calls his doss -- apparently it belonged to one Father Jimmy Stone a while back, but when the good father disappeared, so did his congregation. The church was then firebombed, and most of it was gutted. Spuds took up residence there afterwards, and has been living there ever since (no one else seems to care).
Spuds claims a ganger background, but he doesn't like to talk about it. Spuds is pretty gruff with most folks, and he isn't known for his great personality (a case where good acting and high charisma can actually give off the impression of being a schmuck!) Spuds says he got his name from when he tried to join the UCAS military years ago. He screwed up so much that he was always on KP duty (hence, the name). Eventually, they threw him out. He's turned to shadowrunning since, and he pulls the occasional run every now and then (not a regular, though).
Spuds appears to be a hispanic male in his early 30's. He has tattoos over most of his body (cosmetic) and has long, greasy black hair (typically worn in a pony tail). His eyes are brown, and he has a number of scars on his face. When assensed and informed that he's magical, he claims to know, "but doesn't have time for that magic drek." He claims he'd rather stick with what he can see, but every now and then strange things happen around him -- he essentially tries to give off the impression of being unable to control his abilities.
In this guise, Sylvio tries to play the uncultured fool. The cosmetic job is easy to pull off, especially considering Sylvio's own origins. He will use active magic only when he's certain he won't get caught or when absolutely necessary (and then pass it off as uncontrolled). Since this is Sylvio's "laying-low" guise, he'll usually go to great lengths to make sure this cover stays under control.
LANGLEY GREENBRIAR (STREET NAME: ORINOCO): Orinoco is the reason why the Tir governments seem to want Sylvio so bad. He's performed a number of assassinations in the Tir and has been shielded through the use of this alias. Orinoco "officially" resides within Tir Tairngire, and he has a SIN. His history (and that of his parents) is archived in Salem, and he maintains a residence in Keizer (northern suburb of Salem). His age is officially 29, and he attended the University of Seattle (and got a ThD), where he still communicates (and visits with) a number of professors.
The same technology and data manipulation that made it possible for the Tir elves to ascend to supremacy and "re-write" history is what permitted such a solid background to be formed for Langley Greenbriar. Being a respected elf in Keizer, he enjoys the luxuries of the Tir. Although he maintains only a modest residence there, he spends a good bit of time travelling the world and visiting his former faculty in Seattle. He also consults for the Willamette Compustat Corporation, providing some magical services on occasion.
Orinoco appears as a highly attractive and charismatic elf who values fine clothing and the finer points of life. His short blond hair and green eyes make women drop wherever he goes, and he usually enjoys the company of a female companion at all times (but whose identity seems to keep changing ...) He is somewhat self-righteous, but this isn't usually taken to the point of annoying people. He is also fond of jewelry.
As Orinoco, Sylvio has access to Tir Tairngire. He's extremely careful in this persona, simply because it wouldn't take much to slip up within the Tir and call attention to himself. He has no hesitation about the use of spells as Orinoco, although he still tries to keep his changes cosmetic, where possible (elven ears, for instance).
JOHN JAMES WALLEN (STREET NAME: JACKHAMMER): "Jackhammer John," as he's known on the streets of Fort Worth, is one of the most racist son of a slitch's anyone could ever hope to meet. Jackhammer is a runner for hire (of sorts), and the history attached to his SIN tells his story.
It seems that Jackhammer's dad was part of the Texas national guard when Texas and the Azzies were warring over borders. Jackhammer's dad was one of the many to die during the conflict, and Jackhammer has since decided that he hates anyone unlike himself, especially the Azzies. He's rude and has no tolerance for Asians, elves, trolls, orks, Azzies, anyone from the Tirs, etc. He's usually available when a run against any of these entities goes down.
Physically speaking, Jackhammer's not a bad looking individual. He's deeply tanned, enjoys chewing tobacco, and has short, close-cropped hair. He's not overly large for a norm, but he walks and talks the part. Some have tried to tell him that he could be magical, but those that have usually end up beaten or dead (since Jackhammer has no tolerance for the Awakened).
Jackhammer has been known to make trips around the CAS and UCAS looking for employment (he was a former member of the Dallas/Fort-Worth metroplex guard himself, but he lost his job for being a tad too rough on certain "citizens.") He's been known to go to Seattle, New York, and other areas.
As a cover, Jackhammer allows Sylvio's burning inner nature to show through at times. The cover also allows him to divert suspicion from his true motivations. Jackhammer is another personality in which Sylvio will try to avoid any use of magic. Until he learns to mask his aura (as an initiate), he's simply going to have to beat the snot out of those who are so unwise as to comment on his aura.
SAFEHOUSES MAINTAINED: As previously mentioned, Sylvio maintains multiple safehouses under his various disguises. These are stocked with equipment as mentioned in the equipment section of his character sheet.
CONTACTS: Sylvio maintains a vast network of contacts, but these aren't as helpful as they might seem. For one thing, most of the contacts know Sylvio as someone other than himself. When contacting certain individuals, he has to do in disguise (making crunch situations very difficult to pull off, at times). Still, the following are his contacts.
