Primary Business

PsyTech is devoted to the treatment and care of those with mental illnesses.  They represent the next "level" in mental health treatment.  Whereas a sick individual may have been checked into a sanitarium in the past, PsyTech exists to explore the nature of a patient's illness and do what is necessary to rehabilitate patients and bring them back as productive members of society.

>>>>>[I don't know if I like the way that's worded -- "explore the nature of the patient's illness."  How do you figure they do that?]<<<<<
 --- Sten (13:43:50/12-7-56)

>>>>>[I'm more worried about the "do what is necessary part" myself.  How can they claim to cure some illnesses that have proven chronic?]<<<<<
 --- Nightlace (15:21:33/12-7-56)

>>>>>[There's always a way to cure something -- it's just how much someone is willing to go through.  I've heard rumors that these guys actually condition certain responses out of special patients.  It supposedly works like a charm.]<<<<<
 --- ShockDoc (21:09:26/12-7-56)

>>>>>[For the biotech-less out there, the doc's talking about brainwashing.]<<<<<
 --- Aikea (02:08:37/12-8-95)

Corporate Structure

PsyTech's corporate hierarchy is unknown -- while the company has a president and chairman (elected by the majority of stock owners in both cases), the number of stock owners is staggering.  It's almost as if the corporation is on its own footing without the need for a larger "sponsor."

>>>>>[Oh, they've got sponsors alright.  For inquiring minds, they've got contracts for Lone Star, Wolverine, Citadel, Knight-Errant, and a whole host of other security providers.  I guess they work the bugs out of the stressed-out rent-a-cops]<<<<<
 --- 9Ball (14:59:02/12-14-56)

Major Divisions

Aside from its location in Seattle, PsyTech has no major divisions.  All work by the company is carried out at its Seattle site.

Execs

Little is known about both the chairman and president.  One could almost say that the positions change on a yearly basis, but this isn't true.  Nevertheless, the turnaround time in these positions is staggering.

>>>>>[It's like one big revolving door.  I don't see any pattern in it.  All the position holders do an efficient job, but they never stay there.]<<<<<
 --- Snoop (03:21:45/12-8-56)

>>>>>[There is a pattern, though.  All the guys seem to come from Citadel Security Solutions or end up there.  They must be pushing the real buttons.  They're also one of the biggest clients.]<<<<<
 --- Corporate Cowboy (11:17:02/12-8-56)

Security

PsyTech maintains no security assets of its own; rather, it contracts out to a number of different Seattle firms through a thorough and detailed bidding process.

>>>>>[Any big surprise that Citadel seems to end up with the contract all the time?  Frag, talk about joined at the hip.]<<<<<
 --- Corporate Cowboy (11:56:13/12-8-56)

Physical and Magical Security

The company insists primarily on excellent physical and magical security.  A number of the individuals they treat suffer from mental illnesses related to both technological implants and magical abilities.  It is of the utmost importance, then, that the company hire only those companies that have the ability to keep these types of patients under control.  Failure to do so could result in injury not only to the staff, but to other patients, as well.

>>>>>[Got that straight, chummers?  I happened to be near the facility when a particularly schizophrenic mage slipped into the wrong personality.  The fireworks could be seen by everyone within half a mile.]<<<<<
 --- Stone Rhino (20:15:25/12-9-56)

>>>>>[They've been known to use lethal force when restricting some patients.  I don't know why they take some of these folks on -- must be all the nuyen they're collecting for the deal.  Some real dysfunctional cyber-execs have been known to end up here.  When the wares bring their moods down to the self destructive level, some of 'em can be as deadly as a street sam.]<<<<<
 --- 9Ball (00:42:38/12-11-56)

Matrix Security

Matrix security providers come and go for this company, but relatively good protection is always insisted upon.  PsyTech believes in maintaining the privacy of its patients, and this could be compromised by poor matrix security.

Military Security

PsyTech does not have, nor has a reason to have, military security.

Extended Security

PsyTech actually maintains a small number of extended assets to help monitor and assist patients once they are reintroduced to society.  These individuals act on behalf of PsyTech, following up on and providing assistance to those individuals who are found to be in danger of relapsing.

>>>>>[Can we say guardian angels?]<<<<<
 --- Slider (13:41:00/12-7-56)

>>>>>[Some of them act that way.  You never know they're there until you frag up.  Then they knock your hoop out and drag you back in for "reconditioning."  Simply knowing that could happen keeps a lot of former patients on the straight-and-narrow.]<<<<<
 --- Snoop (08:11:04/12-9-56)

>>>>>[I've had the chance of picking up this sort of work before.  Dead boring, but it seems to pay pretty well.  It's like Snoop says -- most of 'em are so fragging afraid someone's watching them that they seem to develop an almost unhealthy paranoia.]<<<<<
 --- 9Ball (11:43:32/12-9-56)

>>>>>[Sounds like they're keeping themselves in business to me.  Fix one mental illness and create another one in the process.  Now that's what I call a loyal customer ...]<<<<<
 --- Rooster (14:50:01/12-9-56)
