December 2002
Jody Farrell presented an overview of the new science curriculum and informed us about the Archdiocese plans for future curriculum enhancements at the November PTO meeting. Thanks to all who attended!
Thanks again to Linda DesMarais for chairing the magazine drive! If all the subscription invoices are paid, St. Michael’s will earn a profit of $10,189. Additional subscriptions sent in through the Magnet Book program will raise the total profit even higher! Parents and teachers seem to like the deferred billing process. We welcome any additional feedback or comments.
The Sally Foster Giftwrap sale was also a huge success. Chairperson Susan Leachman is estimating that St. Michael will earn about $4,500! Please remember to pick up your orders in the St. Michael’s Assembly Hall on Thursday, December 5 from 2-7pm. Thanks Susan for all your effort in organizing this fundraiser!
Linda Hauck and Gina Allaire are busy working on Christmas Village. Christmas Village will be held on Thursday, December 5 from 6:30-8:30pm for Kindergarten students and on Friday, December 6 for Grades 1 through 7 at St. Saviour Rectory Basement (same location as the Book Fair). Julie Strotman is in the process of scheduling volunteers. If you would like to help and have not yet been contacted, please call Linda Hauk. A huge thanks from Linda and Gina to all who have sent in donations and volunteered their time and talent! Our thanks to Linda, Gina and Julie for all their time and effort for coordinating this wonderful service for our children!
Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for Saturday, December 7 from 10:00-12:00 noon at Evendale Elementary School. Tuesday, November 26 is the last day for reservations. If you are interested in assisting at the craft tables at the Breakfast with Santa, please call Shelly Hoffman. Thanks to Shelley and Lisa Teuschl for chairing this event.
The HoneyBaked Ham sale order forms are attached. Orders will be accepted from December 2 – December 13. Pick-up will be on December 23 at the St. Michael School Assembly Hall. Maria Devita and Maureen Mears are organizing this fundraiser. We appreciate their efforts!
Thanks to Stacie Asbrock for coordinating the Lazarus Earning for Learning discount coupons and the Tri-County Magical Evening wristbands. Parents that attended the Magical Evening enjoyed a great night of shopping with exciting discounts at their favorite stores.
The St. Susanna Youth Ministry staff has requested the help of St. Michael school parents to chaperone the Junior High St. Susanna dances. If you are a parent of a 7th or 8th grade student, please read the attached letter outlining the chaperone responsibilities and dance dates.
If you are looking for ideas on what to get the faculty for Christmas, check out the updated Teacher Wish Lists on the St. Michael PTO website. The website address is: http://home.fuse.net/stmichaelpto. Thanks to Bonnie Bobay for collecting the Wishes and Tony and Peggy Platz for their efforts as Web Master and Web Mistress of the website.
We are in need of parents to help supervise the playground during the lunch hour. Volunteers are needed from 11:30am – 1:00pm. If you are interested in helping, please call Nora Posge and leave a message with your name and phone number.
Thanks to Joe Posge for chairing Market Day. October was a very successful month. We have earned over $900 from Market Day orders so far this year. Please remember to pick up your orders at the St. Michael School Assembly Hall. Due to the construction we do not have the ability to freeze the orders for people who forget to pick them up.
St. Michael’s has applied for membership in the Meijer Community Rewards program. Once our application has been processed and we receive our school identification number we will send you information on how to apply for a Meijer Guest Card. You scan the card at the register when you shop at Meijer. Meijer totals your monthly purchases and St. Michael School will receive a monthly check based on a tiered percentage of purchases.
A HUGE thanks goes out to Mary Abele and Teri and Jay Brokamp! Mary Abele donates a lot of her time creating the annual St. Michael School Directory. Teri and Jay Brokamp print the directories for us! The Brokamps have also printed the Notes to School pads that are coming home to you today! We hope the pads simply your life and standardize the communication to school. Merry Christmas from your PTO!
The date of our next PTO meeting is January 21, 2003. It will begin at 7:00pm. We are hoping to hold the meeting at Sharonville Public Library since the St. Michael School Assembly Hall will be filled with church pews during the church renovation. We will confirm the location with the meeting reminder in January.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season!
