November 2002
The parents who attended the October PTO meeting enjoyed Tricia Vondenbrink and Angie Marshall’s presentation of the Art Attack program. We viewed one of the art lessons and actually created the project. Some parents have quite impressive art talent! Everyone enjoyed the activity. Tricia and Angie reviewed the parent volunteer opportunities with the art program in the classroom. Please contact them if you would like to help.
Another thank you to Linda Greene, Christy Vigil and Julie Grinstead for an amazing Walk-a-thon Assembly. There were many wonderful prizes awarded. Everyone was thrilled with the announcement of the total of collected pledges - $15,623!! We were also excited to learn that Linda and Christy will co-chair the Walk-a-thon again next year and are already busy with exciting ideas to make the Walk-a-thon more fun than ever! If anyone is interested in helping them organize this event for next year please contact Linda or Christy.
Thanks also to Linda DesMarais for chairing the magazine drive! The orders have been turned in and we are waiting to hear the final results! We will announce the profit total at the November PTO meeting. Thanks to everyone who helped their children obtain magazine orders and renewals. The new streamlined timeframe seemed to work well. Please contact Linda with any comments or suggestions.
Our fundraiser featuring Sally Foster giftwrap products will begin today! Sally Foster offers quality giftwrap and many great gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season. Look at the Sally Foster brochure your child should be bringing home today for details about this event. Remember, St. Michaels earns 50% on every item sold. Thanks to Susan Leachman for chairing this activity and to all the parents that support the sale!
Linda Hauck and Gina Allaire are busy working on Christmas Village. They have 3 craft-making meetings scheduled and still need donations. Please see the attached Christmas Village Report for details.
Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for Saturday, December 7 from 10:00-12:00noon. See the attached flyer to register. Thanks to Shelley Hoffman and Lisa Teuschl for chairing this event.
The week for the Everybody Counts presentations has been set for February 18-21, 2003. We are still in need of a few volunteers in the following grades: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. If you have not already volunteered and are interested in helping with this worthwhile server project, please contact Amy Thaman at 779-1605 or athaman@cinci.rr.com.
October was the first month of Penny Power
collection. A total of $300.56 was collected. This averages to almost
$17 per classroom although the classroom totals ranged from $5 - $30.
Each teacher gets to use the Penny Power proceeds for their classroom items.
Thanks to Amy McKaig for counting and tracking the contributions.
Thanks to parents who send in their pennies (and other coins) on Spirit
Day.
