non-adjacent Anchor

Like the standard game, this variant takes place on a hexagonal playing area. The major difference is that groups are only anchors if they touch two non-adjacent edges --- there are no "home corners" granting adjacent-side safety. As a result, controlling the center of the board is very important in this variant. To de-emphasize the center's dominance, I've made the board larger than the one used in the standard version. Also, only the perimeter of the board is counted for territory, further rewarding plays made away from the center. Stones are not captured in this game, and scoring is "Chinese-style" --- every perimeter point counts as territory for one player or the other, with the sum always being 54. Non-adjacent Anchor was briefly mentioned in AG 5 and described in detail in November 2001 Games.
