ALVIN WILLIAM5 VANDYKE (Isaiah4, Quinton3, James2, John1) was born on March 14, 1882 Billings Montana, and died on June 7, 1955 San Joaquin County, Stockton California 95361. Alvin William was the son of Isaiah Vandike and Sallie Tooley of Macon County, Liberty Missouri. Alvin William married in Salt Lake City, (Ogden) Utah about 1919 to JULIA DORTHEA GIESSMAN born October 2, 1902 Ogden Utah. Julia died in Cushing County, Nacogdoches, Texas 75760 on February 26, 1995. She was laid at rest with her second husband; Frank Judd in Rover Missouri. Julia was the daughter of Jean Julius Fredrick GISSEMANN how was born Jan 17, 1859 Logumkloster, Tonder, Denmark and died Nov 6, 1949 and was buried on Nov 9, 1949 Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Utah.  Jens Julius Fredrick GISSEMANN married Mar 7, 1898 in Stamford, Harlan, Nabraska to Adella von HOLLEN born December 17, 1879 Stamford, Harlan Nebraska and died Mar 18, 1976 Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Utah.

Note: Alvin William Van Dyke's father Isaiah Vandike died in a Helena Montana mine some time around 1883. Previously we believed that Isaiah had died around Alvin's birth in 1882; but we now know it was prior or after the birth of Alonzo Lee Van Dyke in 1884. Milton Vandike (Uncle to Isaiah) may have also died in the same Helena Montana mine along with Isaiah. Alvin William Van Dyke ran away form home, at the age of thirteen in 1896 over a disagreement with his stepfather Johnson about working in the mine with hi  stepfather. Alvin returned home, over the course of the summer; of 1896 to see his mother and siblings in Helena Montana. Each of his visits was eventually purmeated with the prospect of working in the mines along with his stepfather. It is a wide shared belief that Alvin Van Dyke had held the fillings that working in the mines, represented the same mine his father had died. In 1897 Alvin William returned to Helena Montana to learn that his family had all moved back to Missouri. Alvin drifted about from mining camp to camp, doing various jobs associated with, equipment maintenance, laborer, cook, and even a carnival barker on the boardwalk of Salt Lake City.
