Terry. I found the copy of Richard Bullock
will dated Oct 27 1764. Originally I found the will listed in "Histories
and Genealogy of Old Granville Co NC 1746-1800. It is a book
that I do not have, but may find a complete copy of the book someday.
Also have a book "Colonial Granville county and it's People by Worth S
Ray. It lists Henry Vandyck
and Ann Bullock. If you would send me the word
processor program you use, I can scan a copy of the Bullock will and the
additional info from the Old Granville co. (I use Appleworks 6 on
a Macintosh) but could save it in the correct format for you. It
also lists a Lydda Vandyke June 1778 on her death bed leaves all she has
to a daughter Caterine Cannon. I recall reading about a Lydda (or
Lydia or widow) and her son Henry coming to NC from PA. I rather
think this could be a connection. Possible Henry's mother, but that
is a real guess. I am not sure if Henry was in NC or if he came to
NC from VA with the Richard Bullock family. Not all we find is true
information. I can't believe there isn't a will for Henry
and Amy Van Dyck some where! Jack

Hi Terry, I checked out your webpage
of Vandyke family data, and I note that we have some differing information
on the children of Henry Vandyke of Lunenburg. You show five children
of Henry Vandyke and Amy Freeman. I show Henry with those same five
children, but that three of them (John, David and Ann) were with Ann Bullock
and two (Freeman and Henry) were with Amy Freeman. See the
following:
Granville County North Carolina Records - 1750-1761,

I see that you show that Henry was born in VA
abt 1725. I strongly believe that Henry Vandyke of Lunenburg is the
son David Van Dyck and Christina Ten Broeck of Albany, New York. No proof,
but much circumstantial evidence. The family names are similar and
the age is right. The Van Dycks were prominent in New York, and each
of the children's births and deaths were records, except that only Henry's
birth, and not his death is recorded. Henry disappears from public
records in New York about the time that Henry of Lunenburg, VA appears.
(Interestingly, Henry of New York's last appearance there was in Loonenburg
Parish in New York). Henry of Lunenburg, VA seems to come from nowhere
- no other Vandykes appear in VA until many years later.
I have done quite a bit of research on the New
York Van Dycks, trying to work forward to see if there is a clue that leads
that direction to our Henry, but have found nothing other than interesting
coincidences so far.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not aware of a will for Henry Vandyke of
Lunenburg County, VA, and have assumed that he died intestate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm interested that you show Henry Vandyke (son
of Freeman) with a middle name of Charles. I have always seen it
as Henry C. Vandyke, but never knew the middle name. What is your
source for that? Interesting trivia - my mother has this Henry's
dresser in her home, purchased circa 1830.

I would be happy to share any info that I have.
I have extensive information on the descendants of Freeman Vandyke.

Hi Bob <Bob~VanDyke.net>,
I know your area of research is with the NC Van Dyke's. I hope that
you provide some leads to the following. Have been researching a
potential connection with John Vandike family line of Tazwell Co Tazwell
VA and Henry VanDyck of Lunenburg VA. Have you any data on
a Henry VanDyck (Van Dyke) of Lunenburg VA and or Granville Co NC.
The dates of concern is with the mid 1750s to late 1760s as extrapolated
from an email received listed below. The interesting aspects for
me is the potential connection with the NC Van Dyke, VanDyck's ect.
Thank you New Begining ~ Van Dyke ~ Family Journal

VA Granville Co NC
Terry, Nice to hear from you. I agree,
that Henry Vandyck of Granville and Lunenburg could be the decendents of
of your John Van Dike of Tazwell. John's approx birthdate of 1749-50
is a good clue. Plus, he doesn't show up in
Lunenburg nor have I ever found any further record
of him in Granville. I don't know when your John showed up in Tazwell,
but if it was abt 1770, that would be when our John reached adulthood.
In the Richard Bullock will John was
to inherit somethings when he reached age.
I quickly looked for the will of Richard Bullock,
but can't find it right now. I have read it before and it mentions
Henry,
John,
Ann,
and David.
When I locate it I will send you a copy. I also, believe that Henry
VanDyck of Lunenburg had another son named Henry (no further records of
him). I am thinking that Freeman and Henry were full brothers and
John, Ann, and David half brothers/sister. (Our old ancestors from
Tennessee mention a rich Uncle Henry of Freeman Vandyke's. I think
David had a daughter named Patsy Vaughan Van Dyke who married a Johnson
in early 1800's. David was married to Martha. I suspect Martha's
name was Vaughan. Patsy is a short name for Martha. I have never
found a will for Henry or Amy Vandyck. We think Amy died abt 1786
and Henry probably 1794. 1794/1795 is the approx time my Freeman
shows up in Tenn, alto he was in NC just before
that. We also are inclined to believe Henry
Van Dyck is the son of David and Christina Ten Brooke VanDyck of
Albany NY. Everyone is trying to prove that with very little success. I
will share what information I have, so keep in
touch. We live in Iowa. Jack <jvani~pcpartner.net>

Larry, would love if you
might be able to add any information regarding Henry Van Dyke of Lunenburg

his life, his war service, etc. A pretty good summary of what we
know of our Van Dyke line (I didn't write it up, I only posted it, so I

Sarah (Sally) Van Dyke
was an older sister to Richard Wilson Van Dyke from whom I am descended.
I have a lot of information on that branch but do not have much information
about the rest of the family. Contact me at vandykelp~worldnet.att.net.
I would like to know what we might have in common and see if we can share
some resources.

Sarah (Sally) Vandyke was
actually a half-sister to Richard Wilson Vandyke (1812-1873). She was a
daughter of Freeman Vandyke (abt 1762-April 1830) and his first wife. Richard
Wilson Vandyke was a son of Freeman and his second wife, Mary Whittle.
Freeman was the son of Henry Vandyke (abt 1725-abt 1795) of Lunenburg County,
Virginia and his second wife, Amy Freeman. More info on my website at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bbivona/main.htm
I am descended from Richard
Wilson Vandyke's older brother, Henry C. Vandyke (1800-1884) of Jefferson
County, TN and wife Lucy Gail Cate. I'd love to share information
with you.
