SURFING THE INTERNET
The Internet offers fascinating new ways to discover information from those of you with a desire to find out more information not just about the Van Dyke family roots, but also about what's happening today on some of the branches of the family tree.

Simply because people move so often and information changes so frequently today, the Internet is a place where, ironically, you can easily find both obsolete and up-to-date information. Links may point to pages that are no longer available for display; other links may lead you to new information you didn't know existed.

THE GENEALOGY FORUM ON AMERICA OnLine:
(AOL) is, without a doubt, the preeminent genealogy facility among the online services" is indisputably viable. "There are over 150 people who contribute time, energy and extensive genealogical experience to help other America Online members make the most of their research experiences. Many of them host, or co-host, live chats on specific topics in which they have strong backgrounds. Well-trained in the resources of the Forum and in how to use AOL facilities, staff members can direct you to the resources you need. They won't, of course, do your genealogical research for you, but they do offer you a tremendous resource."

Understanding the Genealogy Forum as I do, I can state with all fairness that most AOL Online sites do a thorough job of guiding you the readers through each area of the Forum. Some providers also proved you with screen shots and understandable descriptions of the variety of resources available to online genealogists on AOL. This is an excellent description of the quality you can find Online with AOL resources.

Who is to say what (information) is 100 percent accurate? What if there is a single typographical or transcription error? How will you know? Only if you verify and corroborate the research of others can you be confident that the information you have compiled is correct." "Regardless of whether genealogy is simply a hobby or whether you're a professional genealogist, you will want to make sure your research is correct. You will also want your information to be verifiable. As a serious genealogist, you're researching individuals, obtaining copies of records and documenting your sources. You're doing this for your own satisfaction, but you're also doing this for future scholars who may obtain and study copies of your work." You'll find information including:
