SPECIAL MEETINGS

Complex Weavers Meeting

Complex Weavers will share information and encourage interest at an open, one-hour session to be held during MWA 1999. All Complex Weavers' members, prospective members and Midwest Conference participants are invited to attend this educational session. Sallie Guy is the Midwest Representative.

Old Looms Discussion

Tom and Mary Barlow of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, collect and restore old looms, some of which come from Appalachian homesteads. Come to this session, talk to the Barlows about their work in helping old looms "Go" again, ask questions and hear about their plans to establish a loom museum.

MWA Leadership Breakfast
(Or "How To Host A Conference")

Calling all future MWA hosts and past leaders! What does it take to host an MWA conference besides "chutzpah"? Join us for a brief review of the guidelines with leaders who have lived through it--sometimes twice! Find out from the work horses' mouths how much fun and hard work is involved. Come and see how you will view a conference "through the eyes of appreciation." If members of your guild can take initiative, are adventurous, detail-oriented, creative, hard-working and able to share a good laugh, you are just the group to host the 2003 or 2005 conference somewhere in Midwest, USA. Maybe your guild is small. Well, why not a state network of guilds and individuals working together? Bring ideas and questions to this meeting and those of us who have "been there" will help you decide if it's doable for your group. Check the MWA Breakfast entry box on the registration form if you would like to be a part of this traditional leadership meeting. The breakfast will be on July 17 at 7:30 am in a private dining room at McNutt Residence Center. Attendance is limited to approximately 50 people.
