Juried Fashion Show Entry Form
Reflections & Projections
Our juried fashion show will be one of the extravaganzas of our 1999 conference. Let's use our creativity to the fullest with new categories and a bit of nostalgia. The professionally modeled runway show will be held in the Banquet Room of the Wright Place, Indiana University, on Saturday evening, July 17. A reception will follow. Garments will be on display on Sunday, July 18, during regularly scheduled exhibit hours. Judges are Madelyn van der Hoogt and Beverly Atseff.
Numerous cash awards will be presented.
Guidelines
- Garments must be predominantly handwoven, felted or constructed of handspun fibers.
- They may feature details or embellishments in any other fiber technique.
- All entries must be of original design, executed by the entrant and have not been shown at a previous MWA conference, except for Category #1-"Reflections."
- There are no time limitations on Category #1 or Category #5. Garments in Categories #2 through #4 must have been made within the last three years.
Categories are:
- Reflections - Bringing back previous winners-A bit of deja vu! All past accepted entries into Convergence shows or MWA winners (any award). Not to be judged-just appreciated.
- Projections - 2000 and into the Future. Let your imagination go!
- Small World - Weaving for Children under 7 years-boys & girls.
- Here and Now - Filling the needs for daytime, playtime, business, or high dramatic nights-(male or female).
- Culturally Inspired - Share your heritage with us-(male or female).
Entry rules
- Each entrant may submit up to three entries for one fee of $10.00.
- Send two standard slides (or photographs) for each entry, showing a full front view and a close-up with detail. NOTE: Slides show your work best to the jurors.
- Complete and return
- the appropriate entry form found in this booklet;
- your check payable to MWA '99;
- slides or photos, properly labeled with name and title of garment;
- and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Neale Stuart-Merriman; 4009 N. 600 East; Franklin, IN 46131.
- POSTMARK DEADLINE: April 17.
- Additional information will be sent with your acceptance notification. Your entry fee will be returned to you if none of your entries are accepted.

Personal Reflections
The 1999 Midwest Weavers Conference Non-juried Fashion Show will be held prior to the Sunday evening address by Sheila O'Hara. All members are invited to enter a handwoven garment and/or accessory and model it themselves-or have a friend model it. In keeping with the theme, your entry should reflect your own personal, creative style and response to the fiber arts.
Guidelines
- Preregistration is due June 1, 1999.
- No slides are required; just an opportunity to show your creations to an appreciative audience in a non-competitive atmosphere.
- An orientation time for participants is scheduled before the actual show.
To enter:
- complete the appropriate entry form found in this booklet and
- mail it by June 1, 1999, to: Gretchen Jennerman; 107 Berkeley Drive; Terre Haute, IN 47803.
- All forms may be duplicated. Please retain a copy (s) for your records.
- Please enclose a photo or sketch of the garment, along with a fiber and/or fabric swatch.
Audience members will select their favorite garments from the show entries for three People's Choice Awards which will be presented after the Sunday evening speech. Because of time constraints, the number of entries will be limited to 45 - so enter soon.
