Beverly Atseff from Western Springs, Illinois, is a partner in "2-B Weavers" along with Beverly Savel. She has taught weaving and spinning for 20 years in the Chicago area. She has a B.F.A. in Design and has been an active member and officer of many guilds. She has served on the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. Board of Directors. She has exhibited in numerous shows, galleries and museums and has taught at and won awards at many Midwest Weavers Conferences. Her work has been chosen for several juried exhibitions and fashion shows at past Convergences and has been seen in Handwoven Magazine and Midwest Living . Kimonos have been the most common garment worn by women and men since 794. This is a class to plan and develop your correct size for a kimono based on the "country kimono shape." Kimonos are a good project for the beginner as well as a challenge for advanced weavers. With simple sewing techniques you can make clothing on a narrow loom. Lecture, slides, and class exercises will include placement of stripes or design elements in the warp to create special effects. S301 THE VEST YOU CAN BE
Vests are a very popular fashion item and an ideal way to wear some of your handwovens. Make a statement that you are a weaver. With lecture, slides and examples, we will explore many ways to expand your wardrobe. This seminar will give you suggestions for choosing a pattern and appropriate fibers to weave, including finishing techniques and tips. This is an idea class that will cover using many types of handwovens, including fabric strips, felted, supplementary warps, as well as plain weave, twill, etc. Supplies: Pencil and paper.
S401 THE CAT'S OUT OF THE BAG OR HERE TABBY, TABBY!
The most basic weave structure, plain weave or tabby, can be both challenging and exciting. Learn how to enhance a 2- or 4-harness plain weave structure with the use of color, stripes, color and weave, fancy and textured yarns and various setts.
