S105 SPIN SOMETHING DIFFERENT Saturday Morning Mini-Session, 9:00 – 11:30 Want to have some fun and be creative at the same time? Beginning to advanced students love this workshop. We will spin milkweed, dryer lint, cat and dog fur, feathers, angora, horse hair, bottle wadding, chopped plastic, upholstery stuffing, string, chopped yarn and thread or anything else that can be spun or blended into a thread. The results are incredibly attractive and something that would be very expensive if it was available in a yarn store. See how seemingly worthless or difficult fibers can be blended and spun into exciting and useful threads and yarns for some of your most exciting and interesting projects. Supplies: A well-oiled spinning wheel or drop
spindle; carders; scissors; ball winder; baggies; any fibers or materials
with which to experiment.
M602 MAKE A GREAT TASSEL Sunday Maxi Sessions, 9:00 – 11:30 AM and 2:00 – 4:30 PM Do you want to be really creative and have a wonderful time doing it? Tassels (passementerie) are a marvelous way to express your creative instincts. What better way to use up the yarn skeins and samples you have been wondering what to do with since learning to spin. Make tassels as large or small, colorful, long, short, bulky or smooth as you like. Tassels are useful for key, luggage, purse, bag or animal identification. Use tassels for embellishing pictures, pillows, upholstery, jewelry, bookmarks, doorway hangings, lamp pulls, etc. The uses are practical and fun at the same time. Supplies: Up to six different threads,
hand spun or commercial; scissors
